In September of 2022, both Ellen and Abbey happened to be at Tokyo Kitty (a karaoke bar downtown). Ellen was celebrating her friends birthday while Abbey was out with coworkers for a happy hour. As Ellen approached the bar to get her group shots, she noticed a girl sitting alone holding a bike helmet and multiple bags/purses. In Abbey's charismatic way, she struck up a conversation with Ellen ending with a single text message that said "sheep". They parted ways after Ellen's drinks were ready only for Ellen to come back a few minutes later inviting Abbey and her friends to the private karaoke room her friend had booked. Abbey was instantly swept up in conversations with all of Ellen's friends until she had to leave. The next day, they planned their first date.
