Aaron and Sheida matched on the dating app Bumble in early March 2016. On this app, the woman sends the first message, so Sheida began a game of "two truths and a lie." Aaron learned that Sheida doesn’t need coffee to function in the morning and that she is afraid of heights; Sheida learned that Aaron once aspired to a life of missionary work and that he had a ball python named Snakey. Their first date was to the National Zoo, where they bonded over a mutual love of giving funny voices to animals and inanimate objects. By the end of that day, they both knew they had found someone special. Since then, they have hiked, camped, cooked and baked their way through all kinds of food, and traveled to many new places together. Aaron proposed to Sheida while on a trip to Colombia in December 2018. He originally planned to ask her right after a long hike in Tayrona National Park, but through a series of unfortunate (and humorous) events, he had to wait until dinner. Despite the darkness and Sheida’s inability to see the ring Aaron offered, she eventually realized what was happening and said yes. They celebrated with their friends Victor and Tricia who had perfectly timed the delivery of a round of limonada de coco (a frozen coconut lemonade drink). Sheida and Aaron are excited to celebrate with all of you in August!
