Here you’ll find the hustle and bustle of a working Mexican town. There is lots of charm, colorful buildings, street vendors, restaurants and bars. We recommend La Negra (opens at 6pm, reservation recommended) for delicious cocktails, appetizers, tacos, burgers, and pizza. We also recommend Karen's Place for a beach front restaurant serving delicious Mexican fusion plates. Distance from our room blocks: 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk (1.5 mile walk one way). There is a paved path where you can walk directly from the hotel to Bucerias.
Such a cute little surf town! We will definitely be visiting again. Sayulita has a boho-chic shack kind of vibe, tons of quirky character, and color. It's popular for hippie types and surf lovers. You'll see many tourists in golf carts getting around the small town, many surfers, a really beautiful beach, and little shops and restaurants. Bars open in the evenings. Distance from our room blocks: 38 minute drive (16 miles)
The Malecón is a 12-block, mile-long boardwalk in Puerto Vallarta's downtown areas: Centro and Zona Romántica. The boardwalk is a cement paved path that is beach front and offers many shops and restaurants. Most people love taking pictures at the famous "Los Muertos Beach Pier" where there is a pointy looking landmark reflecting a boat sail. We definitely recommend you take an afternoon or evening to check this out! The pier’s atmosphere changes quite a bit in the day and at night. During the day there are lots of activities in and around the pier, and many visitors and locals enjoy the sights and shops here. At night this stunning pier is beautifully lit up and stands as the backdrop for many bars, restaurants and dance clubs. Distance from our room blocks: 50-60 minute drive (16 miles) *traffic due to touristy area
Known as the #1 dinner show in the area. It's almost as if a lūʻau met Mexico and Cirque du Soleil vibes. Your whimsical night begins with a sunset cruise (with an open bar) across Banderas Bay that will take you to Las Caletas, a beach only accessible by boat. Your night will include a buffet candle-lit dinner in one of their hillside open dining rooms and terraces. Your dinner will be accompanied by a strings trio and a singer who will perform traditional Mexican songs. At show time, you’ll be seated in their open-air amphitheater to experience the immersive story of Alma through a mixture of acrobatics, original music, and special effects at their pyramid in the rainforest of Las Caletas.
For the adventurous souls! You can book tours online for Marietas Island and visit the beaches that ring the exterior of the island, among them Playa La Nopalera with its crystalline waters and more colorful fish. Tours held from December through March might very well include sightings of humpback whales nearby. During this tour you’ll also be able to snorkel around the islands. Access to Playa Escondida/Playa del Amor is restricted to 116 people per day, which means you’ll need prior reservations, especially during vacation season. You can book tours for this online as well. Usually this tour includes the Marietas Islands. Please note: To access hidden beach Playa Escondida you need to wear a life jacket and swim without fins to avoid damaging the coral. You get there by jumping off the boat a few meters from the entrance and swimming to the interior of the beach. It’s not recommended for children under 4 years of age. You can snorkel once you’re inside.
