FAQs

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Hop on over to the "travel" tab to find all the details needed to book a cabin on-site at our scenic wedding venue, Grand Lake Lodge. There are also Airbnbs around town that will be a mile’s walk on the dirt path up to the lodge (or if you’ve rented a car, there’s plenty of parking at the lodge lot as well!)

Question

Are my children invited as well?

Answer

At this time, due to the legal capacity limit for the reception area, children are not able to join for the wedding reception. HOWEVER! Children ARE welcome at our wedding ceremony, for the short cocktail hour following the ceremony, and for all of the other fun activities happening throughout our wedding weekend. So please bring your kiddos! We'd love to see them. During the reception, we plan to coordinate on-site day care for the children of our guests through Resort Sitters (https://www.resortsitters.com/). If you are interested in utilizing this on-site day care for your children during the reception please let us know ASAP!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Semi-Formal Mountain Funk! Lighter colored suits and gowns are welcome, but not necessary. Slacks, button down shirts, jumpsuits, and midi length dresses are encouraged. Bonus points for bright, bold colors, fun patterns, western touches, and self expression!

Question

What kind of weather can we expect?

Answer

Hot during the day and cold at night! The daytime high temperature could be as high as the 80s and the overnight low could be as low as the 30s. Plan to keep it cool for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then plan an extra layer for later at night (or just warm up on the dance floor)

Question

Just how high of elevation will we be at?

Answer

The venue is at about 8,500 feet of elevation... that's no joke! Altitude sickness is a real thing... your evening libations WILL hit you harder, and you might feel out of breath quicker on the dancefloor! Some tips for handling the elevation like a champ: - Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink lots of water both ahead of the trip and throughout the weekend; you need a lot more than you think! - Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes - Show up early to get acclimated (arriving Thursday is a great idea!) - Eat steadily with plenty of carbs and protein - Come well rested

Question

What are the wedding venue spaces like?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors overlooking Grand Lake. Beautiful! But potentially sunny and hot... have sunscreen and sun glasses, don't dress too warm for the ceremony, and make sure your footwear will work for walking on a gravel pathway! Cocktail hour will be on the grassy lawn by the Grand Lake Lodge pool... not much to add here other than the same points from the ceremony... sun glasses, sunscreen, don't dress too warm, and watch the footwear! The reception will be on a huge, roofed, open air deck overlooking Grand Lake. No need to worry about the sun here! However, it may get cold later at night. Plan an additional layer or just run back to your room quick!

Question

Sooo what are we eating?

Answer

No need to make any selections ahead of time. There will be a buffet with Mediterranean mountain flair, vegetarian options, and a full service open bar. If you have specific allergies or dietary restrictions (other than vegetarian or gluten free) please let us know ASAP!

Question

Did someone say After Party?!

Answer

Yes! Due to local regulations, we'll have to end the reception at Grand Lake Lodge at 10pm. However, we are planning to keep the party going at the local bars in town afterwards!

Question

Is there a shuttle provided?

Answer

No. We selected our venue specifically so that our guests could stay on site and walk home or down the hill to town after the wedding. For this reason, we highly encourage guests to stay at the wedding venue, Grand Lake Lodge. Guests of the lodge will be provided a parking space, and there is otherwise limited parking available.
