Things To Do

Why we love Oregon

Welcome to one of our favorite places in the world. We consider the PNW as our home and can't wait to share it with you! We've compiled a list of things to do and see in this unforgettable area.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls

50000 Historic Columbia River Hwy, Bridal Veil, OR 97010

Standing at an impressive 620 feet, Multnomah Falls is not only the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon but also the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest! With its stunning cascading waters and lush surroundings, this iconic landmark is perfect to stroll along the scenic trails, take in the views from the historic Benson Bridge, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. When Aaron first met Anne's extended family in Portland, Anne's Uncle Sean drove them around in his vintage green bus and they passed by Multnomah Falls, where Aaron's eyes lit up with awe.

Cascade Locks & The Bridge of the Gods

Cascade Locks & The Bridge of the Gods

Cascade Locks, OR 97014

Cascade Locks is the gateway to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Columbia River Gorge. It's home to the iconic Bridge of the Gods and the Bonneville Lock and Dam. Lewis and Clarke described this section of the Columbia River as the "great rapids of the Columbia" as they opened navigation and shipping through this region in the 1800s. The Bridge of the Gods is featured prominently in the 2014 movie "Wild", starring Reese Witherspoon, which is based on Cheryl Strayed's memoir of self-discovery hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.

The Fruit Loop

The Fruit Loop

Wander down the 35 miles of scenic country roads with this unique rural farm experience, where you'll encounter 30 on-the-farm fruit stands, wineries, breweries, cideries, and fields of flowers. On the route you'll have access to some of the best pears, apples, cherries, peaches, berries, and wine in the country. Purchase fresh fruits of the area at local produce stands, or choose U-pick to gather fruit right off the tree. Homemade pies, jams and preserves, wines, crafts and artwork by local artisans also highlight the Fruit Loop drive.

pFriem Family Brewers

pFriem Family Brewers

707 Portway Avenue, Hood River, OR 97031

"Always an amazing experience. First class beer and food. All of the beer is excellent but pay attention to the seasonal and barrel aged selections. We had a good time at this brewery and would return without thinking twice." — Alex H. (Google Reviews | Local Guide) "The fish and chips was the best I ever had! Delicious and perfect! The Mac and cheese is creamy and filling. I really enjoy the Mexican beer as well. Very nice restaurant located on the waterfront. Has a nice outdoor area with fire pit. Highly recommend for families, friends, and intimate gathering." — Michael S. (Google Reviews | Local Guide) "Would sink a beer here with my future bride." — Aaron B. (Groom)

The Society Hotel (Spa)

The Society Hotel (Spa)

201 N Cedar St, Bingen, WA 98605

Blissful relaxation awaits with the indoor saltwater soaking pool, outdoor hot tub, cold plunge pool, and cedar sauna. Massage and facial services are also available. Aaron & Anne actually spent a few nights here in the cold of winter when visiting the Hood River area and the spa just hit the spot perfectly! Located across the river and a swift 10 minute drive away from Hood River is The Society Hotel, a quirky spot built from an old schoolhouse with hostel beds, a gymnasium, a delicious lunch spot, but most importantly the spa! If you stay at the hotel you'll be granted complimentary access to the spa, otherwise you can book an appointment. There are also some spa options located in Hood River that we cannot personally vouch for but look highly rated on Google Reviews!

Hiking (Mt. Hood National Forest)

Hiking (Mt. Hood National Forest)

There are so many hiking options in the Pacific Northwest! You'll have trail options near the town of Hood River, and we absolutely recommend you make your way to the Mt. Hood national forest. AllTrails is the easiest way to find information on trails (like permits, recent weather reports, and trail distance/altitude), but here's a few trails we suggest... • Laurance Lake High Ridge Trail — moderate, 6.6mi, 1200ft, 30min drive • Hood River Pipeline Trail — easy, 2.7mi, 100ft, 5min drive • Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain — hard, 8.2mi, 1700ft, 60min drive (our fav!) • Timberline Lodge to Zig Zag Canyon — moderate, 4.7mi, 900ft, 60min drive (our fav!)

Biking

Biking

207 Front Street, Hood River, OR 97031

There's several bike and e-bike rental shops in Hood River. Biking here is a great way to enjoy the scenery with a little bit of adventure along the way. Take a bike out to a winery (e.g., The George White House), along decommissioned railroad lines, or to a scenic viewpoint (e.g., Multnomah Falls). The Mosier Twin Tunnels is a popular (and flat!) 9mi round trip route. Just make sure to verify whether any park permits are needed wherever you head (check with the bike shop!).

Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater Rafting

856 WA-141, White Salmon, WA 98672

Rafting the White Salmon River is one of the best-kept recreation secrets of the Pacific Northwest! Experience the 10-foot commercially-run Husum Falls and the incredible adrenaline-pumping feeling of whitewater rafting in the class III-IV rapids in the area. In the Fall, the water levels become lower and the trip becomes more playful and the trips are shifted upstream start deep in the canyon and to include additional rapids. The water is clear blue, the weather is fabulous, and rapids are big and numerous; making the White Salmon River one of the most exciting half-day or full-day river rafting trips in the west!

Kite Surfing

Kite Surfing

Hood River Event Site, Hood River, OR 97031

Get yourself out into the water and take a lesson to learn how to kiteboard (depending on the weather). Or better yet, enjoy the Hood River waterfront trail and parks and watch the experts send it!
