It’s a no for hotel blocks

All I can say is if you’re booking a wedding block, stay far FAR away. We booked this block about a year and half ahead of our wedding and it was literally the only regret I had in my wedding planning process. We were given Linda as our block contact and it was the most messy and unorganized process I’ve ever dealt with. We were told block prices were 225 for a king room for the Sunday night following our Sunday wedding and as my guests called the reservation managers, they were given more expensive rates everytime, and were then calling me to have them verify the rates. In which my mother and myself had to call the hotel directly ourselves and verify this number on the block contract we had. It was insanely frustrating. Now, fast forward to 3 months before the wedding when the majority of my guests were beginning to book their rooms. They were able to find rates through Molly pitchers website for up to 100 dollars less than the block price we were given. If I was giving this hotel 20 rooms of business for my wedding night, you would think they would offer that same discount to my guests, but instead charged them full price in which most of my guests then cancelled the block to get a cheaper rate, to which I totally understood, as these were unjust business practices. So, now it’s the day before my wedding. My bridal party was getting ready in their primary master suite which was close to 1800 for the Saturday and Sunday night (rip off). I’ve had this room booked for 9 months. At 11 o’clock, the day before, I get an email from Linda stating that she needed to clarify that I would NOT be staying in the primary suite but in fact a junior suite. I think something of this nature would warrant a phone call but instead me as a busy bride the day before my wedding , doesn’t notice until close to my arrival time that evening. My mother calls a gentlemen who’s name I don’t quite remember, and he tells us (info not provided by Linda) that the reason for this downgrade was because of a flood that happened in that suite. I obviously completely understood as that is out of their control. They were able to offer me two connecting junior suites which worked fine. But on the day of my departure, I just happened to pass by the master suite and saw another bridal party staying in it. I had to only assume we were booted from the primary suite since my guests did not keep their block rooms which should be not allowed since the hotel charged my guests over 100 more for that stay than other guests at the hotel. So to my dismay, I cannot possibly leave this hotel a good review, as they made my wedding block an absolute nightmare and embarrassed me to my guests, most of whom work in the entertainment industry. We will definitely not be doing business with this establishment ever again and I urge you to find another accommodation for your wedding block.
