Maid of Honor
As my favorite sister, Kate has always been an important part of my life. Growing up we were complete opposites in every way – physical characteristics, interests, hobbies, opinions… everything. Despite all these differences we have grown closer in adulthood. One thing that really brought us together several years ago was Crossfit. Kate is an amazing athlete, coach, and trainer, and at some point she convinced me to join too! We finally had a common interest and activity, and it gave me so much joy to bond with her in those workouts and get to see her shine doing something she loves. She has always been one of the most passionate and strong women I know. Any time my sister comes up in conversation, I consistently find myself bragging about how amazing she is and how much she has accomplished. I am incredibly proud of my sister for all that she does, but also for who she has become and is still becoming. She has always been there for me through thick and thin, and I love her more than she knows.
Best Man
The Virginia Military Institute is no ordinary college. Some say, you must be insane or stupid to willingly put yourself through such hardship. I was lucky enough to find another as crazy as I. Joe is not quite crazy and one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. Joe and I were friends at VMI, but I refused to truly recognize my friendship with a drum-playing, kilt wearing, band company geek. Our friendship grew strong since leaving VMI, always making time for each other despite often living in different states. I am now blessed to call him my best friend. Joe is a man of faith, love, fortitude, intellect, compassion, and one of the finest men I have ever had the honor of knowing.
Maid of Honor
Sarah and I met on my first day working at the Credit Union in 2016. Immediately, I was impressed (and a little intimidated) by how knowledgeable, confident, cool, and stylish she was. So obviously I wanted to get to know her better right from the start. Over the next three years that I worked there, we grew from work-friends into real life friends; but our friendship really blossomed afterwards, through COVID and grad school. We were there supporting each other through everything – good, bad, big, and small. Sarah is truly an amazing woman in so many ways. She has overcome every challenge to follow her passion in her career, and I’ve had the pleasure of watching her get several well-deserved promotions. She also has such a beautiful and genuine heart. Sarah is one of the kindest, welcoming, and most understanding people I know. She is my best friend, and I am incredibly blessed to have her by my side, whether we’re in the same town or miles apart.
Best Man
What can be said for my big brother?! My brother and I have been opposites in every way since birth, always interested in different hobbies and activities. I still get told stories about how he cracked my head open when I was a baby and how he slapped me while in my crib! Despite it all, God found a way to bring us closer together and bond the way only brothers can. I have learned that my brother has one of the most genuine hearts and beautiful souls out of anyone that I have ever met. We have grown close in our adulthood and love camping, kayaking, and cooking together. One of my fondest memories is when he visited me in Colorado and we went to the Great Sand Dunes with my pup, Cooper. I am blessed to call him my big brother, my good friend, and my Best Man.
Bridesmaid
I met Kristen right after I graduated from undergrad in 2014. We both joined the Physics’ Department softball team, the Wild Bohrs. We hit it off right away at that first practice because we had both played fast-pitch in high school. During one of the games, she mentioned that she needed a part-time nanny for her (then) almost two-year-old son, Ivan, and I asked for the job. Through playing softball, working out together, and watching Ivan, Kristen and I became fast friends. She is so caring, generous, creative, and fun! I’m convinced that she can do anything she puts her mind to. Not only is she bomb at every interest she has, but she’s also an amazing mother, always encouraging Ivan to explore his own interests. I honestly don’t know how she does everything! She has a spark of life in her that is contagious, and after every call I feel lifted. Kristen is an all-around incredible person and one of my closest friends.
Groomsman
Larry and I have been friends for three years. We met in a cigar shop while I was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and bonded almost immediately over a couple fine stogies. My life has not been the same since. Larry is one of my closest friends and mentor and our relationship continues to grow stronger each day. I cannot wait to see Larry’s hand-rolled cigars in my local tobacco shop when he becomes a world renowned “torcedor.” Larry is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. He makes me a better man and I thank God every day for bringing him into my life.
