The Best and the Man
Jonathan and Mugsie have had too many ridiculous adventures to list here, though, as a master storyteller, Jonathan could do a great job telling all of them given time. Jonathan gained god-tier friend status when he moved in with Mugsie to help them post-surgery, effectively replacing the newly-removed breast lump as a permanent fixture in Mugsie's life.
Honor Guard: The Fellowship of the Ring
Will is the best younger brother a person could have, and, contrary to stereotypes, Zoe annoys him far more than he annoys Zoe. He and Zoe developed their personal childhood literary canon together, and share the desire to study more subjects than one single person can reasonably pursue.
2 Best 2 Man
Katlynn was the first person Mugsie could actually recognize and remember at Pius XI, their second high school. Probably because Katlynn is a very memorable person! Together they're a power team, and sometimes mistaken for sisters, which is only not true on a technicality.
Honor Guard: The Two Vowers
Dani is responsible for introducing Zoe to roller derby and the psychological study of body image vis-a-vis the media, and also for taking first photographs of herself that Zoe actually liked. Seven years after she (with Rachel) adopted Zoe as a college freshman and brought her into the Tuesday Night Dinner circle, they've run several psych studies, exchanged increasingly polished drafts of writing projects, and watched (and critiqued) countless movies together.
Best Man: Chicago Drift
Sam is a nice neighbor three times over! (He was in Mugsie's building, then in Zoe's building, and now across the street from both of them.) We keep our friends close and our best friends even closer!
Honor guard: The Return of the Wedding
Rachel and Zoe met on set of a Jacobean revenge tragedy, The Duchess of Malfi, where Rachel directed and Zoe tried her hand at lighting design. Seven years after she (with Dani) adopted Zoe as a college freshman and brought her into the Tuesday Night Dinner circle, they've gone on scores of walk-and-talks around the city, exchanged dozens of letters, and are still having philosophical discussions about books, social structures, and ethics.
Flower Child
Camille is Mugsie and Zoe's superb hair stylist, standing cat sitter, and all-important coffee procurer. She's also just pretty cool. Mugsie and Camille met in 2009 and only saw each other in person once every 2 years, until, thank goodness, Camille moved to the north side of Chicago where she could be roped into all sorts of in person interactions!
Ring Bearer
He will take the rings to the alter, though we do not know the way. Dylan and Mugsie met in the Homestead High School marching band, where they bonded over the base line to In The Midnight Hour. They've been through countless hours of marching, numerous theatre productions, a trip to Hawaii, and a whole bunch of life changes together. While the instruments have disappeared, the friendship has remained; Mugsie had the privilege of being in Dylan's wedding party, and now he's returning the favor!
Best Cat
Full name "Little Lord Sebastian Edmund Palmer-Pike II" This is true: he is the best cat.
Officiant
Mugsie met Luke at a screening of Whale Rider in high school, after which they wandered off to look at Salvador Dali tarot cards in a Dairy Queen. They then proceeded to get fantastically lost trying to get home, absolutely terrifying Mugsie's mother. It's a sign of how charming Luke is that he won her over almost instantaneously! Luke is also responsible for Mugsie's making it through Northwestern intact, as they would often flee Evanston to stay with Luke at Loyola.
