We met when we were both in high school and connected instantly. We became very close friends and started messaging each other for the next few years. Within those few years, we would go see movies, window shop at the mall, and try to see what beds were the comfiest at Sears. Zoey always thought Cyle was handsome, and Cyle always thought Zoey was beautiful, but Cyle didn't have the guts to ask out a dime like Zoey. Over time, Zoey went off to college and Cyle joined the Marines. Even though they were thousands of miles away, they kept in touch through the years. Eventually Cyle came home for leave and invited Zoey to breakfast a few days before he left on deployment. "She looks breathtaking" is the only thought in Cyle's head the entire morning. When they wrapped up breakfast, Cyle gave Zoey his address for when he was on deployment so she could send him letters while he was at sea. And she started writing away! She wrote so many letters that Cyle heard from her every week. Other marines began to notice that Cyle was receiving regular mail that he would smile too, and word began to spread quickly that he was in love. But Zoey and Cyle weren't together, and Cyle had something he hadn't in the past: guts. So at the next port, which was Dubai, Cyle called Zoey (which had to have been about 2AM her time) to ask her "Hey, uh, you wanna be my girl?" which she replied a "Wow, yeah" in which Cyle could tell she was smiling by the way she said it. Fast forward a year and a half of long distance, face time, cross country flights, and amazing love, Cyle wanted to propose to Zoey. Cyle decided, right after his 21st birthday, that he was going to propose at the airport right before he was to head back to Camp Pendleton. When he got down on one knee and asked those mesmerizing words "Baby, would you marry me?" he could see the love in her eyes. Never has love shined so bright.
