Women are welcome to dress in formal or cocktail attire. However, dresses should go past the knee. Dressy jumpsuits, evening gowns, pantsuits, sarees, salwar kameez, and lehengas are appropriate for our wedding. We discourage white dresses for female guests. Men can wear tuxedos, suits, blazers, dress shirts, kurta, dress pants, and ties. Guests should also abstain from wearing t-shirts and jeans. Men traditionally wear a Kippah during a Jewish ceremony.
Muslim tradition forbids alcoholic consumption. Thus, out of respect for this tradition, we will not serve any alcoholic beverages. However, we will have mocktails and soft drinks available.
Yes, we encourage guests to take photos, except during the Jewish ceremony, which will be professionally filmed and photographed. If you take any photos during our wedding, please feel free to send them to Nuha at nuha.youngn@gmail.com.
Yes, but please mention this when you RSVP so that we can have an accurate headcount of our guests for meal ordering purposes, seating, etc.
We understand that some of our guests might be travelling on a Saturday and want to give those guests enough time to rest before our wedding. Having our wedding on a Sunday also allows for us to sign the Ketubah, which is a Jewish marriage contract. Jewish law prohibits weddings from taking place during the Shabbat period (Jewish day of rest), which occurs from Friday night-Saturday night, so having our wedding on a Sunday aligns with Jewish tradition.
For the ceremony, we will ask guests to sit anywhere. However, we will have assigned seating in the main dining room. As a fun twist, tables are named after Nuha's favorite DC neighborhoods.
It varies from couple to couple. However, for our wedding, we will have a full Jewish service, and a small dua ceremony with a reception to follow.
All food and drinks will be catered through our venue, 2941 Restaurant. Food will be nut-free, and no non-kosher fish will be served. Since 2941 Restaurant serves food plated style, we will ask guests to put in their meal requests when they RSVP. Please let us know if you have any dietary concerns or food allergies. While we cannot honor every dietary request or accommodate all allergies, we can figure out arrangements to ensure you are healthy and safe on our wedding day.
