Zoë moved from Minneapolis to Seattle in October 2015. She was single and new to the city, so she soon downloaded Tinder. She'd done a lot of swiping and chatting, but wasn't keen to meet up with anyone for a date. Mark, a PNW native, was living in Seattle and fresh out of grad school. Newly unburdened from his engineering coursework, he was happy to meet new people and make connections. Zoë and Mark "matched," and began texting back and forth. Neither of us were particularly looking for a relationship, but we liked one another and the conversation flowed. One week later, we spontaneously met up on a Saturday night out. Zoë was with friends at a bar, and Mark had just come from a party. It was 12am, the drinks were strong, and the bar was loud, dark, and crowded. It wasn't your typical "date," but it sparked a connection. A few days later, we had another date (a real one this time!). Two months later, we exchanged "I love yous." Six months later, Zoë moved to Spain and we survived a year of long distance. Then, after many, many months apart, Zoë returned to Seattle and we moved in together! Seven years later, that casual Tinder date has turned into two rental homes, three cats, one mortgage, and countless hikes, travel, game nights, and dad jokes. We're so excited that you can join us in celebration of beautiful, complicated, joyful, difficult, incredible love. We have so much love for one another, for our friends, and for our families. Thank you for being here with us.
