Barbara Whipple Trail (3 miles) --> Starts and ends at the surf hotel and wanders along the river. No car needed and great for a family adventure. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/barbara-whipple-trail-loop Harvard Lakes via Colorado Trail (6 miles) --> A personal favorite that has beautiful vistas along the entire hike and ends at two alpine lakes. An 18 min drive from the Surf. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/harvard-lakes-via-colorado-trail-segment-12 Mt. Princeton (7 miles, 3,300ft of vert) --> Definitely a bigger and more challenging hike, but may appeal to our adventurous friends and family. Of all the local 14'ers, Mt. Princeton is one of the more accessible peaks to grab. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/mount-princeton-trail Zoe & Cal are happy to provide more ideas if you're looking for them :)
Byob(ike) or grab a rental from Black Burrow Bikes across the green from the Surf Hotel. The biking trails from the surf are extensive and offer anything from an easy town cruise to a 15+ mile mountain bike extravaganza. Cal has asked that we recommend this trail in particular :) https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7112670/broken-boyfriend-loop
