FAQsFAQs

Question

What should we expect? What should we expect?

Answer

Highland Barn is a working farm with Highland cows and many other farm animals. The venue itself is a two story building with the ceremony on the second floor and the reception on the first level. There is a set of stairs leading to the second floor with the handrail. While there is no bathroom in the barn itself, there will be very comfortable bathroom facilities in a trailer steps from the venue. This will be an indoor and outdoor event with weather permitting. Since we do not take ourselves very seriously, expect an easy-going and casual event. Expect to hear a lot of Taylor Swift songs as she is the bride‘s favorite artist. Expect to hear a lot of bad and loud singing. Our ultimate goal is to have a drama-free and memorable wedding event. We are hoping to include our small dog in the ceremony and reception but are open to leaving him at home if anyone is allergic. He is friendly but just a little shy, especially around small children.

Question

Is there a dress code?Is there a dress code?

Answer

Dress is business casual but nothing too formal. Suit and tie is not necessary but also no jeans or shorts. I do not recommend high heels or clothing that is floor length due to the gravel walkway. The bridal party will be comfortably wearing cowboy boots and you are welcome to do the same.

Question

What’s on the menu? What’s on the menu?

Answer

Since our first date was at a Mexican restaurant we decided to serve tacos and there will be multiple flavors of delicious cupcakes from Sweet Reasons Bakery. We expect plenty of leftovers and you are welcome to pack up a doggy bag.

Question

Is alcohol allowed?Is alcohol allowed?

Answer

YES! There will be an open bar on site that will serve liquor, wine, champagne, and beer. No outside alcohol is allowed. Please do not get excessively drunk and make a fool out of yourself 🙃

Question

Parking & Traffic Situation?Parking & Traffic Situation?

Answer

There is a designated grassy area for parking close to the barn. Please do not drive or park anywhere other than the designated parking area. There is a gravel walkway leading into the venue and has the potential to be slightly muddy if there is rain. Plan on heavy traffic as it is a congested area.

Question

Smoking or non-smoking?Smoking or non-smoking?

Answer

There will be a designated smoking area steps away from the barn with trash receptacles provided. No smoking inside the barn for obvious reasons.

Answer

Please RSVP by mail or by scanning the QR code found on the invitation or by mail by August 1 as we have to give a final head count to vendors.
