Before you travel to Myanmar, please check visa requirements and make sure you have a valid visa. If needed, apply for tourist visa via https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/.
The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Myanmar: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia and influenza.
While larger establishments accept credit cards, most don't. You are encouraged to bring cash. Most money exchange only accept new, crisp notes so make sure you request some from your local banks before traveling to Myanmar. (1 USD = 1,450 MMK; 1 SGD = 1,000 MMK)
Since we'll be visiting religious sites, ladies are recommended to bring wrap skirts and scarf. Footwear must be removed before entering the pagoda grounds, hence flip flops are recommended.
A lot of other travelers get local Myanmar SIM card. We recommend this if you don’t have an international phone plan, like Google Fi or T-Mobile. You can buy visitor-specific SIM card at the MPT Shop at Yangon International Airport. For MMK10,000, you get 1GB of data and MMK5,000 of credit for 10 days.
The voltage in Myanmar is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. There are some sockets of type C, which is common in Europe. We recommend bringing international adapter and converter in case you need one.
