Our love story began in a dilapidated warehouse (we're talking about leaking roof and broken toilets)! Jonathan was looking to expand his business and was referred to one of the commercial sites I was managing. People who know him might find this hard to believe but he could barely get a word out during our introduction! Despite his shyness, I'll always remember the endearing look he had on his face. We played it professional by exchanging several emails knowing that he had absolutely no intention of renting it. Insisting on a phone call for more information, Jonathan finally came clean and asked me out on a date- but of course I wasn't going to make it easy for him! The business call segued into a strenuous interview about his life, which he miraculously passed and the rest was history!
Jonathan planned a beautiful Napa Valley weekend getaway to surprise Wai. It involved a lot of planning and last-minute decision on whether to go or not to go. The problem was a large wildfire in Sonoma County wreaking havoc on the bay area's air quality. He wasn’t sure if this was a sign of his ever-burning love for Wai or if it was a warning to run for safety. Jonathan decided to proceed because Sunday 11-11 was symbolic as the two lovers would always say “Make a Wish!” when the clock hit 11:11. Jonathan was always wishing to spend the rest of his life with Wai and he was finally getting a chance. They also met on 10-10 and the two always had a love for numbers as you can tell from the wedding date. Wai didn’t have a clue Jonathan was planning on dropping down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. Little did she know, Jonathan hired a photographer to capture the special moment for many years to come. Andretti is a beautiful Mediterranean winery with amazing, never ending views of the vineyards. Unfortunately, as soon as the couple arrived so did two tour buses full of people! Jonathan had to quickly arrange another plan because the space he was going to propose was now filled with tourists. He told Wai he was going to the restroom and along the way noticed a secluded area just a short walk from the tasting area. Jonathan headed back and the two ordered a bottle of wine and cheese. Walking out of the tasting room he mentioned to Wai, that he found the perfect place for them to enjoy away from the crowd. The setting was perfect, there were two little wood stumps and a small table beside some trees overlooking the vineyards. After a glass or two over some good conversation the sun was starting to set. Jonathan waited for the perfect moment, got down on one knee, and asked Wai to marry him! She said YES, and the two enjoyed laughing about the hired photographers behind them. The photos turned out amazing and they were so happy to share with the family.
