Zinnia and Phil's love story began in the most unexpected way, through a mutual friend (Yesica) who saw something in them that she knew would be a perfect match. It all started when the three of them went on a simple walk together at Memorial Park. Zinnia had no idea that this was all part of a setup, which worked out perfectly. It allowed her to be her true, authentic self, with no pretenses or expectations. She was just enjoying the moment, soaking in the beauty of the park and the conversation, and simply being herself. For Phil, it was a similar experience. He was able to be his most vulnerable self without any of the usual pressure that comes with 'dating'. That’s the beauty of how Zinnia and Phil first connected: What started as a casual outing with a friend soon became something that neither of them could ignore. At that point, Zinnia still wasn’t thinking much about the future of a relationship, but she enjoyed her time with Phil and Yesica. It was a comfortable, easy-going afternoon—nothing more, nothing less. Little did she know, the next day would bring even more clarity.

Phil invited Yesica and Zinnia to play pickleball, and being the adventurous spirit that Zinnia is, she immediately said “heck yes.” It was exactly the kind of fun, active activity she loves, and she was excited to join in. But as the game began, Yesica made a quick exit, and that’s when Zinnia realized—this wasn’t just a casual hangout. Phil and Zinnia were now left to spend some one-on-one time together, which they both secretly wanted. They finished out the pickleball game, but instead of calling it an evening afterward, they sat around chatting, continuing their conversation until the pickleball place closed. And as if the view wasn’t enough, it became even more unforgettable when Phil proposed to Zinnia there. Shortly after Phil popped the question, one of Zinnia’s closest friends—who had heard all about her dream proposal from Phil—called, completely unaware of what had just happened. Zinnia immediately put her on speaker and asked her to share what she thought would be the perfect proposal from Phil. Her friend’s response? It was exactly what Phil had just done—an intimate picnic with wine, food, and a sunset in the very spot where they first met. This moment was just another beautiful confirmation that Phil and Zinnia are truly made for each other. Phil was so certain about Zinnia from the moment they met that he bought the ring just two weeks later. He knew that what they had was real—something worth making official, far beyond just being boyfriend and girlfriend.
