Our Story

The Wedding Website of Megan Garcia and Adam Ziminski
Our love story is one that started in the halls of Waubonsie Valley High School. Little did we know that the friendships we formed and the adventures we embarked upon during those formative years would lay the foundation for a love that would last a lifetime.
Question

Chapter 1: The First Meeting

Answer

Once upon a time, Megan moved all the way from Houston, Texas to a town in the Midwest called Naperville, Illinois. It was the summer of 2011. Adam and Megan were 14 years old- just days away from beginning high school. At Freshman Orientation, Adam was immediately swooning over “the cute new girl from Texas," so he decided to shoot his shot. Megan was drawn to his dreamy blue eyes and his friendly smile, but most of all, she was comforted by his warm personality and his effortless ability to make her laugh. Although Adam was hoping to spark a little something more than a friendship from this first conversation…the two became instant best friends.

Question

Chapter 2: The First Date

Answer

A year later, Adam and Megan were still inseparable friends. In addition to spending quality time under the “Friday night lights” while Adam played football and Megan cheered, they were both in the school’s Show Choir group. Their connection deepened as they got to experience countless rehearsals that turned into cherished memories and a common love for the performing arts. It was then, that Adam decided to make his next move by asking Megan to the Sophomore Homecoming Dance. Completely surprised by the beautiful candle scape that spelled out the letters, “HC?” Megan said YES! This date was unknowingly the first of many to come.

Question

Chapter 3: "Will You Be My Girlfriend?"

Answer

The next couple of years were a whirlwind of classes, exams, and teenage dreams. Megan’s dance schedule became more demanding, and Adam continued balancing football and show choir. There were highs and lows, but even amidst the challenges of adolescence, these two remained an important part in each other's lives. With graduation around the corner, Adam and Megan decided to attend their final school dance together: “The Senior Prom.” As they danced the night away underneath the twinkling lights of the dimly lit ballroom, one thing was clear: the friendship that made their bond so special had turned into a spark that could no longer be ignored. The next morning, these two smitten teenagers went to a lake house with their closest friends. Adam found a moment alone with his beautiful date to ask a question that would change their relationship forever: “Will you be my girlfriend?” Megan’s eyes sparkled with happiness as she answered, "Yes!" The celebration that followed, as they got to share this exciting news with their best friends, was the perfect beginning to their new journey as an “official” couple.

Question

Chapter 4: "I Love You"

Answer

The summer after graduation was magical. From picnics and drive-in movies, to concerts and slumber parties, the two soaked in every last moment before heading off to college. One weekend, they went to a country music festival, and their relationship soared to new heights. It was sunset on a perfect summer night. Adam invited Megan to join him on the ferris wheel before they headed over to enjoy the final concert. When their carriage reached the top of the peak, time seemed to stand still. As they looked out into the sunset, Adam squeezed her hand and said, “I love you, Meg.” Megan's eyes welled up with tears of joy as she whispered, "I love you too, Adam.” In that fleeting moment, their love felt as boundless as the horizon before them.

Question

Chapter 5: Long-Distance

Answer

Summer eventually came to an end, and the lovers had to face the uncertainty of the future. Adam moved to Lexington to attend The University of Kentucky, and Megan moved to Tucson to attend The University of Arizona. Managing a long-distance relationship at 18 years old was not easy. There were many highs and many lows, but somehow, their love endured. “How?” - you ask. Here are their tips: Jealousy gets you nowhere. Trust is everything. FaceTime is your best friend. Plan your next visit before your current trip is over so that you always have something to look forward to. Try to see each other once a month. Always support each other’s dreams and aspirations.

Question

Chapter 6: Moving In

Answer

After 4 long years of living in separate time zones, their plan was to move back to Chicago. That all changed when Megan booked her first professional dance job in New York City. Three months later, Adam took a huge leap of faith and joined Megan in “the big apple”. As Adam likes to say, “three hundred dollars and a dream,” was all it took. The couple moved into a 290 square foot apartment where they lived for the next 3 years. (If you can make it there… you can make it anywhere) lol!!

Question

Chapter 7: The Proposal

Answer

Adam went above and beyond in planning the most special proposal. A full year before he got down on one knee, Adam traveled down to Texas to meet up with Megan’s mom, sister, best friend, and his mom to shop for a diamond ring. Once he found “the one”, he planned another secret trip to Nashville, where he gathered Megan's parents and sister to formally ask for her hand in marriage. After receiving their blessing with happy tears and open arms, the next step was planning a proposal that included FOUR huge surprises! SURPRISE 1: Adam told Megan that his co-worker invited them to meet for drinks at The Plaza. This was a perfect way to make sure Megan was in “full- glam” for the evening. When the Uber arrived at the iconic red steps of The Plaza, Adam suggested they take a stroll through Central Park while they wait for his friend to arrive. He led her across the street to Central Park, where he “spontaneously” asked a “stranger” (who was actually a photographer) to take their photo on the famous Gapstow Bridge. Adam grabbed Megan’s hands, got down on one knee, and popped the question. SURPRISE 2: After the proposal, Adam escorted Megan to their favorite restaurant. When the newly engaged couple walked inside, Megan was surprised by hers and Adam’s families who had flown in to be part of this magical evening. SURPRISE 3: After dinner, Adam invited everyone to a rooftop bar where Megan was surprised AGAIN by their friends who had also flown in from all over the country to celebrate their engagement. SURPRISE 4: The final surprise was booking an appointment at a bridal boutique on Fifth Avenue the next morning. Having Megan’s mom, sister, grandma, best friend, and Adam’s mom and cousin with her for her first wedding dress fitting was a memory that will be cherished forever.
