You can most certainly rent a car at the airport upon arrival. There will be parking at the Castello for those who do choose to drive to the wedding. Parking can be tough in Rome and Roman drivers can be intimidating. Be sure you are comfortable with the excitement that entails the roads of Rome/Amalfi coast. Please be careful as some road rules differ from those we are familiar with in the US. There are several restricted areas in the center of Rome that are only designated for taxis in addition to being able to distinguish paid VS free parking. Familiarize yourself with these rules prior to committing to a car rental.
Uber can be utilized in Rome, though it may be difficult to catch one late at night. The wedding will run until 1 AM therefore it is not suggested to rely on an uber at this time. In addition, urban trains run approximately from 530 AM to 1030 PM, therefore, it is not recommended to rely on this mode of transport to get back to Rome after the wedding. Here is a list of car services that can be contacted directly but it MUST be done IN ADVANCE!!! We recommend contacting them as soon as you finalize your plans for your trip. We will supply transport back to Fregene on the night of the wedding via a car service, but if you choose to stay in Rome you will have to arrange transport to and from the venue independently. For these reasons, we recommend staying in either Fregene or Santa Marinella at least for the night of the wedding. If you plan on attending the welcome party the night before the wedding, it will be held in Fregene so this is a prime location for wedding-related events. Most hotels/Airbnb's in Santa Marinella are walking distance from the Castello. The options are limitless, and getting from city to city via train is probably the most cost-efficient and easiest way to explore. Roma Termini is the main train station and you can reach almost anywhere from this center. You can use the Airport train to get to Termini, and tickets can be bought at machines or the ticket booths. The airport train is approx 10 min walk from customs.
