Zhané and I met in the most unexpected way. While I was building a friendship with her sister, she was forming one with my mom, all without either of us knowing. When we eventually realised this, it only made sense for us to meet! The day we did, we went wine tasting and had such a wonderful time that it turned into a sleepover at my parents’ home. What followed was a movie night, plenty of girl chats, and the beginning of something truly special. Since then, we’ve built a genuine and honest friendship, always supporting one another through every season. Even though we do not see each other often, the time and effort made to stay in contact speaks volumes of how our friendship has grown. When we do have the opportunity to see each other, it feels like I had just seen her the day before.

Growing up with my younger brother has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life. As the older brother, our five-year age gap shaped our relationship; whether I was teaching, protecting, or occasionally being the bossy one. I have fond memories of guiding him, especially in sports like athletics, cricket, and rugby. I’ll never forget our drives to Johannesburg, where Ehren would talk non-stop (literally) the entire way. That’s my brother, talkative and stubborn when he wants to be. As we’ve grown older, our relationship has evolved from that of siblings into a true friendship. Watching him become the person he is today, and having him by my side through every season, has made my life richer in every way. Seeing Ehren and Zhané fall in love has been like watching a beautiful story unfold. It began with a quiet, secretive phase, but it was clear he had found someone special. He only had eyes for Zhané. Their connection grew effortlessly into something deep and meaningful, built on shared dreams and genuine care. Even distance only brought them closer, and I know they have truly found their forever in one another.

I’ve known Ehren since we were four years old. We grew up together, attended the same school, and have remained best friends ever since. We have always been part of each other’s lives, even when living on opposite sides of the country. Our friendship has only grown stronger over the years, built on the effort we both make to stay connected and support one another. He’s like a brother to me, someone who always wants to see you flourish and be the best you can be in everything you do. Ehren has always claimed he’s the third triplet alongside Cohen and me, and I can wholeheartedly confirm that he truly is.

I met Ehren in Grade 8 at the start of our high school journey. We become friends almost immediately, but our friendship truly blossomed on the rugby field over the years, culminating in an undefeated matric season for the "Mighty Goffels". After High School, we took on the club scene, confidently showcasing our unmatched dance moves. Ehren has been a brother to me, someone who always checks in and shows up when it matters most. His loyalty is truly remarkable, and his presence has been a constant in my life through every stage.
