Don't fret! The link for our room block is only for the most standard room for 3 nights (Friday March 10 - Monday March 13). There are plenty of other options available if you call the reservations department at Mahekal Beach Resort. The will offer a discounted price for our wedding even if you upgrade your room or want to stay a couple extra days before or after.
No!!! Booking through our room block is the cheapest option. The promotional price that you see on Mahekal's site does not include taxes or resort fees and is more expensive than the discount they are giving guests for our wedding. Our standard room rate of $411.35/night includes all taxes and resort fees, and also includes breakfast and one other meal each day.
You sure can! The meal plan that's included in our reservations includes breakfast as well as one other meal a day (lunch or dinner). All inclusive obviously allows for unlimited meals and drinks. It is about $100/day per person more expensive, and you can either upgrade by calling the Mahekal reservation department or upgrade when you check into the hotel. Keep in mind, though, that we will already have catering and an open bar on the day of our wedding. Drinks at the hotel are pretty cheap, so we personally don't recommend going all inclusive. Also, drinks are not very expensive there to purchase, so unless you're planning on downing 14 drinks a day it's likely not worth upgrading.
Yes, guests are welcome to seek out other options for their stay. There are many available listings on Airbnb during the time of our wedding, many of which are cheaper than the hotel. Please do let us know if you're not planning on staying at the hotel, as we require a certain percentage of guests to be staying at the hotel. We also need to let the hotel know which guests are staying elsewhere so that they can get passes for the evening of our wedding.
For our wedding day, you can of course enter the hotel. You can come up to two hours before the ceremony starts. For other days, the hotel also offers a day pass for $1500 pesos (about $75), which allows you to use the Las Olas pool and restaurant. Half of the cost of the day pass also goes towards credit for food and drinks while you're at the hotel.
The hotel unfortunately does not have parking. However, street parking and a 24-hour lot are nearby. Please check our "travel" page to find more information.
No need to get too fancy! Both the ceremony and reception will be Garden Attire. Wear sundresses, floral prints, suits in lighter hues, and fun hats and fascinators!
Kids are welcome to travel with you down to Playa del Carmen. Please do let us know if you plan on bringing kids along! We are looking into child care services provided by the hotel for the night of the reception and will update soon.
Please RSVP by January 11 2023. You can RSVP on our website by clicking the "RSVP" tab.
We'll be arriving on Monday March 6 and leaving Tuesday March 14. We'll be planning some excursions for folks that are around on Wednesday 3/8 and Thursday 3/9, but of course feel free to make your own plans as well!
