Bright and early on Christmas morning, much too early for anyone's liking, the house was in complete chaos. Sawyer and Logan had already torn into their gifts, leaving a trail of wrapping paper and excited shouts in their wake. Now it was Mom and Dad's turn to join in the festive madness. Brad, having received all his presents, adhered to his usual tradition and vanished outside for a moment. Brad returned with an unwrapped Amazon package, its top barely taped shut, and handed it to Brittney. The package was surprisingly heavy. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment that the gift wasn't wrapped, but kept it to herself and she began to open it. Inside, she discovered a ball mount hitch. She looked at Brad with surprise and said, "Wow, I don't have one of these!" Brad smiled and replied, "Remember that time you got stuck at work, and I had to pull you out? Now you have one to hook up to if you get stuck again." As she leaned over to put the heavy box on the floor, Brad suddenly dropped to one knee. The two boys stood behind him, looking a bit confused. When she turned around, she found Brad smiling nervously at her. Their son, Sawyer, couldn't contain his excitement and asked, "Mom, are you marrying Dad?" Totally stole his thunder in the most adorable way. Completely shocked, Brittney said yes. Sawyer and Logan erupted into singing and dancing, "Mom and Dad, sittin' in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G." Brittney turned to Brad and expressed how confused she was in the moment opening the Amazon box and wondering why he chose to gift her a ball hitch for Christmas. Brad, being the master of dad jokes, responded proudly, "Get it, hitch? Haha, we're getting hitched." The setting was far from what most would imagine for a proposal. Everyone still had sleep in their eyes, her hair was a mess, her nails weren't done, and the kids were prancing around in their underwear. The house was a chaotic scene of torn Christmas paper. But in that moment, none of it mattered. It was simple, unexpected, and utterly perfect. We are overjoyed to share this special moment with our children and the people who always support and love us. With plans for a wedding on August 31, 2024, we couldn't be more excited to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with you.
