The average temperature in Edinburgh in October is between 55° and 43° Fahrenheit. It can be a bit windy and a little rainy, but most days are partly cloudy. Appropriate Footwear: If you are planning to hike or walk - bring the appropriate footwear. If you are like Zanthia and scoff at such things, wear your doc martins or other leather boots everywhere you go, consequences be damned. If you want to wear heels at any point, be mindful that the entire city is cobblestone and the constant steep and rolling terrain is not very friendly to ankles. Zanthia often walked the city in 6" platforms, but we don't recommend this to non-locals. Coats and Clothes: Layering is key! Day-to-day, we recommend a comfortable sweater and jacket combo, but a light jacket with wind and rain protection is smart. Z + A usually bring a trusted scarf, a selection of sweaters, and a leather jacket. Bonus Tip: Extra socks! Walking a lot in a damp climate calls for sock changes.
