We locked eyes on December 6th, 2015. It was my 20th birthday party. Although we did not get a chance to officially meet that night, we did not forget each other. After a few weeks, we crossed paths again at a friend's party. That's when our story truly began... Nos vimos por primera vez el 6 de diciembre del 2015. El día de mi cumpleaños. Our story is unlike any other. After only dating for a few months, I had to leave for a study abroad program in Italy. That meant being apart for seven months. This was going to be the hardest test for our relationship. Little did I know, the distance was not an obstacle. Ethan's family flew out to meet me weeks before I returned to Bolivia and prepared for my time in Florence. That showed me he was serious about me. Soon after, Ethan flew down to Bolivia to meet my family and see me one last time before our time apart. As soon as he walked through the gates of the airport I knew - he was the one God sent for me. Once we were finally together, we never let go. We have traveled, experienced adventures, gone through trials, and shared many secrets. Ethan confessed that shortly before meeting me, he had prayed to God to send him the perfect woman. He was ready to fall in love and start a family. During the same time, I was making the same prayer to God. Saying God acts in mysterious ways is an understatement. Who would've thought that a girl from Bolivia would meet a man from California and they would fall in love in Texas? Well, that is exactly what happened. And all of this is just the beginning of a beautiful life together.

Nuestra historia es única. Con solo meses de cortejos, yo tenía que irme a estudiar a Italia por un semestre. Eso significaría estar a distancia por siete meses. Esta era la prueba más grande en nuestra corta relación. Para mi placentera sorpresa, la distancia no fue un obstáculo en lo absoluto. La familia de Ethan vino a conocerme semanas antes de volver a Bolivia y comenzar los preparativos para mis estudios en Florencia. Esto me demostró que para él, yo era importante. Poco después, Ethan vino a Bolivia a conocer a mi familia y verme una vez más antes del largo viaje. Ethan me confesó que poco tiempo antes de haberme conocido, él le había pedido a Dios que le mande a su mujer idónea. Él estaba listo para enamorarse y empezar una familia. Al mismo tiempo, yo le estaba haciendo la misma oración a Dios. Decir que Dios actúa de manera sobrenatural es poco. ¿Quién hubiese pensado que una mujer de Bolivia conocería a un hombre de California y se enamorarían en Texas? Bueno, eso es exáctamente lo que pasó. Y todo esto es solo el comienzo de la hermosa vida que vamos a tener juntos.

One word, breathtaking. Our families flew to Miami to give us their blessing. Ethan even rehearsed his speech in Spanish, which truly showed his commitment to me and my family, making the trip unforgettable. He took me to the bay where a beautiful yacht was waiting for us. After an hour enjoying the sun, the breeze, and some wine, the sun started to set and the yacht came to a stop right in front of the Miami skyline. He got down on one knee. The next thing I knew, the sound of the word "Yes" was floating in the wind and I had a gorgeous ring on my finger. Champagne everywhere. At that moment, I knew I had made the best decision of my life. He was soon to be my forever. Todo fue mágico. Nuestras familias nos encontraron en Miami para darnos su bendición. Ethan practicó su discurso en español para que el momento sea aún más significativo e inolvidable. Me llevó a la bahía donde nos esperaba un yate hermoso lleno de pétalos. Luego de una hora disfrutando del sol, la brisa y un vinito, comenzó el atardecer y el yate se detuvo justo en frente del horizonte de Miami. Ethan se puso de rodillas. Luego, recuerdo el sonido de mi voz diciendo "Sí" en el viento y un hermoso anillo en mi dedo. Champán por todos lados. En ese momento estaba segura que había tomado la mejor decisión de mi vida. Pronto, él sería mio para siempre.
