We go way back... like kindergarten graduation back. We grew up in the same schools from elementary through high school (and yes, there are plenty of old photos to prove it). Somewhere along the way, we became each other's first "boyfriend/girlfriend" in middle school, complete with 8th-grade formal pictures, Zane bravely going noodling with Emily's dad, and our first kiss behind Emily's house before Zane's mom came to pick him up. Zane still remembers somehow fitting his feet, shoes and all, into Emily's neon pink and blue Osiris sneakers. Emily remembers him always telling her she was beautiful and holding hands at the movies. When we reconnected during our senior year of high school in 2016, it didn't take long to realize we'd never really stopped loving each other. We've been together ever since. Through college, summers on Nantucket, and everything that came after, we've grown up together. We learned how to live in tiny spaces, work long hours, survive COVID lockdowns, and apparently how much pizza from Sophie T's two people can reasonably eat. Along the way, we adopted our bearded dragon, Rhubarb, who somehow became an important part of the story too. In 2024, on our eighth anniversary, Zane proposed at the top of Stillwater Mountain. It was the first mountain Emily ever hiked with Zane and his family years earlier, and somehow Emily didn't question why Zane was basically speed-hiking the entire way up. At the summit, with no photographers and no audience, he proposed. It was exactly the way he knew Emily would want it. She says it was the easiest "yes" she's ever given, which means a lot coming from someone who usually can't make a decision to save her life. We're not overly mushy people, but we've built a life full of adventures, late-night conversations, long walks, Phish concerts, laughter, and countless memories we wouldn't trade for anything. We've spent over a decade growing up side by side, and we're so excited to see what comes next. And if you hear anyone call Emily "Smemily," just smile and go with it. Zane insists it's because she always smells amazing, but the true origin is still up for debate.
