The Engagement Story

Zander enjoys surprising Madison so he was especially excited to plan the perfect proposal! While it was extremely hard to keep the plan under wraps, absolutely no one knew of the plan besides Zander and the photographer. Of course, he asked Mr.Wilke for his permission and he couldn’t help showing the ring off to a few people. Thankfully, everything went as intended and Madison didn’t suspect a thing until Zander was down on one knee. Since he had the ring, Zander had to find the perfect excuse to visit Hilton Head Island, where he knew he wanted to propose. The perfect opportunity arose when Madison secured her job with the University of South Carolina and gave Zander the ideal excuse to celebrate the accomplishment with a quick trip to Hilton Head. Once on the island, Zander planned lunch and for a visit to the top of the iconic lighthouse. Then after a day outside in the sun, Zander told Madison that they had to get ready for a fancy dinner to make sure she had a reason to dress up for the secret pictures. Zander even went as far as telling Madison that they were going to take a picture for a Christmas card at dinner, so they had to be dressed up. While walking around the Harbor Town area before dinner, Madison noticed that Zander was unusually on his phone texting a lot. As Zander could sense her annoyance, he assured Madison that he was just responding to law school classmates. While secretly texting with the photographer to figure out the perfect time to get in position in line with the sunset, Zander found out that he had to delay the proposal by a few minutes later than planned due to the sunset. Once they had arrived in the area, Zander had to think quick on his feet to delay the proposal. Thankfully, he saw a golden retriever and knew his future fiancee would want to pet it. The initially perfect distraction led to Zander scrambling to get Madison away from the dog once they started conversing with the dogs owners. Zander could feel his phone buzzing in his pocket from the photographer telling him to come and propose, but he was having trouble pulling Madison away. After a polite excusal from the dog and owners, Zander led Madison towards the water where Madison noticed that they were standing in front of a photographer taking pictures of the lighthouse. Not wanting to be rude, Madison kept moving to the side, hence out of the photographers shot. Little did she know that photographer was going to capture their proposal. About two months prior, Zander started mentioning a story about a famed eagle that can be seen near the Harbor Town lighthouse. Madison had never heard of such eagle, despite visiting each of the last 8 years. In the moment, Zander starting distracting Madison from the photographer by telling her that he saw the eagle and pointing towards the water. In a moment of panic since Madison said she didn’t see anything, Zander switched to saying he saw a dolphin and stepped behind her. Confused, Madison turned around and surprisingly saw Zander on his knee and the photographer capturing the moment. Of course Madison said yes!
