Bangor International Airport

Bangor International Airport is a small airport about a 90 minute drive from our home. For most people, this will be the most convenient airport. When Kayla flew out of Bangor, it took about 73 seconds to get all the way through security, so that's nice! Enterprise, Hertz and Budget all offer rentals from the Bangor Airport. Please note, while Portland International Jetport is larger, it is also a four-hour drive to our home from there. We recommend Bangor for your convenience.

Hancock County Bar Harbor Airport

If you've ever wanted to take an exciting flight in a Cessna 402, now's your chance! For those traveling in from the Boston area who don't want to make the 5-6 hour drive, you can catch a flight on Cape Air from Boston-Logan to Hancock Country Bar Harbor Airport. Enterprise and Hertz offer rentals from the Bar Harbor Airport.

Machias River Inn

Machias River Inn is the largest hotel in the area and should be easiest to book. You will be near downtown Machias, with an incredible view of the Machias river. While they have few amenities, their rooms are clean and most are newly renovated. Please book your rooms early! If you know someone else celebrating with us, please consider sharing a room with them - space is limited! The Machias River Inn offers double queen rooms and a few efficiency apartments to accommodate multiple guests.

We have 10 acres of beautiful Downeast Maine blueberry barrens and woods - you are welcome to pitch a tent and camp here, if you want to!

Travel Note

Parking

We do not have enough parking to accommodate each of your vehicles, so please park in the municipal lot next to the Columbia Falls Salmon Federation. Our home is a short walk up the hill, and we will also run our own van from the lot to our home as needed. You can also drop-off near the mailbox at the start of the driveway.
