Act I: A Different Kind of Friday Night Lights In 2019, at a summer Shabbat dinner on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Alex saw a beautiful girl sitting alone. He tried to work his usual “shmooze” and asked for her number. Her name was Izzy, and she said no. Alex didn't see Izzy again until late 2019, when they bumped into each other at another Shabbat gathering. The two exchanged pleasantries but not much else. That same evening, Sara Armet and Natalie Ashoory – two close friends of Izzy's - suggested that she and Alex might make an interesting pair. But Izzy said no. Enter: COVID. By February 2020, Izzy - back home with her family - began to reconsider her decision about Alex. After all, nothing says romance like a global pandemic and several months living with your parents. Meanwhile, Alex had relocated to Florida. In March, he had to cancel a gala Shabbat dinner being organized in New York, informing the event hosts by email. One of those hosts was Izzy - and to his complete shock, she wrote back. Act II: You’ve Got Mail After Izzy replied about the event cancellation, Alex responded… then Izzy wrote back… and then Alex, etc. The dialogue flowed effortlessly, with plenty of wit, heartfelt thoughts, and an undeniable spark. Message by message, the two fully let each other into their lives. By August 2020, Alex planned his return to New York, and a date with Izzy was the top priority. Again, he asked for her number - and succeeded. Act III: She's "The One" In late September 2020 - six months after the email chain began - an evening picnic in Central Park set in motion the events leading up to today. Alex and Izzy found in one another the partner they sought to build a home, family, and legacy. Fast-forward to December 14th, 2021. Alex made Izzy think there was an important "focus-group" for her to attend. In the very same spot where he first requested her number, Alex got down on one knee to ask a far more important question. This time, she said yes.
