Danielle & Zack's Story

From Event Security to the Big Day (With a Few Detours)

Danielle and Zack first met in college while working event security at a golf tournament in Reno, NV (yes, golf has security, and yes, somehow, they were it). Danielle was a bright-eyed freshman, Zack a junior who preferred the mountains to the classroom and was rarely seen without a pair of boots, and their eyes met across a sea of golf carts and sunburned spectators. Sparks flew... or maybe it was just the Nevada heat. Either way, they hit it off and started hanging out. But as college often goes, life moved quickly. After a brief connection, they went their separate ways. Danielle and Zack both went on to earn their degrees and started their professional careers; Danielle in healthcare, while Zack entered the thrilling world of environmental health and safety, where danger signs and spreadsheets collide. Fast-Forward Seven Years Out of nowhere, Danielle added Zack on social media- a bold move and arguably the most romantic use of the “Add Friend” button in history. Zack, being the smart man that he is, responded with a photo of his dog, Moose, because if flirting has a cheat code, it’s a cute dog. It worked. They started chatting and eventually made plans to meet up for drinks. Unfortunately, Danielle came down with a last-minute case of “COVID” (quotation marks necessary, because Zack remains mildly suspicious to this day). First date: canceled. Thankfully, Danielle arose from the dead! A few weeks later, they rescheduled - this time, Zack invited her over for dinner. Not one to risk being stood up twice, he figured even if she didn’t show, at least he’d get a solid meal. He made his best (and only) dish: spaghetti. She showed up. She was impressed, not realizing Zack had just used every single clean dish in the house to pull it off. Moose also helped seal the deal by being his usual charming and obnoxiously cuddly self. One date turned into another, and another, and eventually, on May 14, 2022, Zack asked Danielle to be his girlfriend. He’ll swear up and down that the date should be much sooner than that; however, Danielle does not recall Zack asking before then, and to this day, pleads the fifth when it comes to the date. From that day on their life has been filled with love (mostly), laughter (sometimes tears), good times (sometimes less good), and most of all their life has been filled with adventures and new beginnings. And dog hair. Lots of dog hair. Fast-forward again: almost three years later to the date, Zack woke up to news of mass layoffs at his job. While he wasn’t let go, it was the push they needed and the wheels were already in motion (literally). Danielle had long dreamed of leaving Reno, and Zack had always wanted to move to the South. He applied for jobs immediately, and soon, everything clicked into place. Zack got an offer, Danielle got permission to work remotely, and they packed up their life (and two dogs) for a 2,300-mile road trip to Birmingham, Alabama. After Danielle made that leap of faith, Zack knew it was time. On November 11, 2024, after a peaceful morning hunting in the woods together (because romance takes many forms), he proposed. Danielle said yes- surrounded by trees, love, and weirdly noisy squirrels. It was perfect. That leads us to this moment, where we have the privilege of getting married in paradise in front of our closest family and friends! We cannot wait for the adventures that lie ahead in life and are so thankful for the people we have in our corner! Thank you for reading our story and we look forward to seeing you with tacos and tequila in Mexico! Much Love, D & Z
