We’re thrilled you’re here and hope you enjoy the island Nina calls home.
At Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), after immigration, pick up a SIM/Wi-Fi and an EasyCard or iPASS at a convenience store—good for most metros and buses. Take the purple Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station (35–40 min). From there, the High Speed Rail (HSR) gets you to Zuoying (Kaohsiung) in ~1.5–2 hours; transfer to the Kaohsiung MRT (Red Line) for downtown.
If you have time, spend a day or two in Taipei: Taipei 101, the National Palace Museum, and classic night markets.
If the weather’s clear, ride the Maokong Gondola for tea and views. In Kaohsiung, start at Pier-2 Art Center, then ferry to Cijin Island for bikes, seafood, and the lighthouse. Walk the Love River at sunset, see the Dome of Light at Formosa Boulevard, and visit Lotus Pond’s Dragon and Tiger Pagodas or nearby Fo Guang Shan.
Liuhe Night Market (Ruifeng has even more variety). Transit is clean and EasyCard-friendly.
