6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Please let Nina and Zach know if you can make it to our pre-wedding get-together! We want to catch up with all our friends before the wedding and introduce you to those who’ll be celebrating with us the next day. We hope it’ll be a fun evening where you can meet more local and out-of-town friends during this special moment. We’ll have drinks, savory nibbles, and desserts. There’s a firm end time, and we’d love your help making sure Zach isn’t too tipsy before the big day. 😄 This event is for friends of the bride and groom only.
10:30 am - 12:30 pm
We suggest semi-formal or smart casual attire in cheerful colors.
About the Engagement Ceremony In Taiwanese tradition, the engagement ceremony is a formal celebration where both families gather to exchange symbolic gifts and blessings. It represents the union of two families and marks an important milestone before the wedding day. This intimate ceremony is primarily for close family members. However, if you're curious and would love to experience this special part of Taiwanese culture, we warmly welcome you to join us and witness the traditions!
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as some parts of the ceremony may involve walking or standing outdoors. You're also welcome to bring a pair of shoes to change into, if needed.
About Traditional Taiwanese Wedding Ritual In the afteroon of our wedding, we’ll hold a traditional Taiwanese “Ying Qu” (迎娶) ceremony—where the groom’s family formally picks up the bride from her home back to the groom house. We have decided to use The Grand Hotel to be as Zach's family house. The event includes symbolic customs like door games, tea ceremonies, and blessings from elders. This will be the first time forthe new marriaged couple to call their partners' parents "Mom" and "Dad" It’s lively, full of meaning, and we’d love to have you there to experience this joyful part of Taiwanese culture with us!
6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Attire suggestions: Elegant, formal attire is recommended for the event. Avoid black color.
The Liúshuǐxí wedding banquet will be held outside the temple where Nina grew up, offering a truly unique cultural experience. Unlike traditional indoor weddings, this outdoor setting reflects the close-knit nature of Taiwanese culture. The banquet will feature an array of seafood dishes, which are central to Taiwanese wedding celebrations. Seafood is considered a symbol of prosperity and abundance, and you can expect a variety of fish and shellfish, prepared in authentic Taiwanese styles. To ensure your comfort, please inform us if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, particularly regarding seafood. We want to make sure everyone enjoys the celebration without any concerns. We hope you will enjoy this special occasion, experience the delicious food, and embrace the rich cultural atmosphere that makes this event unforgettable.
