We're getting married!

Zack and Maddy’s story began in 2020, right before the world turned upside down. Maddy had just started her nursing career at Aspirus Hospital, where she instantly clicked with Antigo native, Maggie Weix. The two became inseparable, and as Maggie and her boyfriend (now husband!), Jed, prepared to move to Wausau, Zack was also settling into the area for his first job out of college—living with their mutual friend, Jay Schumitsch. Looking to meet people, Zack asked some friends from Antigo to join a bar volleyball league at Wiggly Field—what would soon become the iconic hangout of their 20s. Maggie asked Maddy to join too, and just like that, the real-life version of Friends began. In a twist of perfect timing and fate, Jay’s duplex backed right up to Maggie and Jed’s apartment, which meant the whole group quickly became neighbors, teammates, and everyday companions. Zack was particularly interested in Maddy—drawn in by her volleyball skills and her sense of humor 😉. With Maggie playing matchmaker, both were encouraged to talk to one another, and they did… but at the time, it blossomed only into a friendship. Over the next three years, that friendship grew deeper and more meaningful. Zack and Maddy gravitated toward each other naturally, realizing over countless laughs, hangouts, and late-night talks that they genuinely loved being in each other’s company—more than just friends ever would. So in the summer of 2023, they finally made it official. Their relationship continued to grow, and in the fall of 2024, they brought home their sweet fur baby, Gus, who officially sealed them together as a little family. Looking back, it feels so special that what started on a bar volleyball court turned into the greatest gift—finding each other. From teammates to lifelong partners, God’s timing was perfect all along. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate where the journey has led: to August, to their wedding day, and to the beautiful life they’re building together.
