Wedding Party

In lieu of a traditional bridal party we have asked our siblings to stand by us on our wedding day. --- As children, we would fight over who got the TV remote, the front seat, the gamecube controller. We would annoy each other until one of us cried. But there is no one else who calls the same people mom and dad, no one else who recalls what our house felt like on Christmas morning, and when someone asks about their childhood dog, they remember the same one I do. They know all Dad's funny quirks and Mom's CD rotation, they love the same family, they mourned the same grandparent. So much of what we have experienced has been so similar, and although we eventually grow up to become different people with different paths, the big picture of who we are will always be made up of pieces of who we were together. Though we may not live in the same place anymore, a little piece of each of us is still playing together (or arguing) in our childhood home. inspired by words written poetry
