FAQs

The Wedding Website of Zachary Ellis and Ciara Henry
Question

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM AN IRISH CATHOLIC-JEWISH WEDDING?

Answer

We will blend traditions from both sides! Our ceremony will weave together elements from both faiths; you will see a chuppah alongside Catholic readings, hear blessings in both Hebrew and English, we will have a shabbat ceremony on Friday, and receive communion during the wedding on Saturday. Do not worry if it feels unfamiliar; it will be new to a lot of our guests and we encourage you to participate as much as you are comfortable. We will also be blending Irish traditions into our celebration. Irish weddings tend to go later into the night than American ones, with the reception ending around 2am — rest up! We will also have an open bar (a more American tradition). Come ready to celebrate, sing, and maybe learn a few new traditions. L'chaim and Sláinte!

Question

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Answer

For the ceremony, we request Black-Tie Optional, which means we’d love to see tuxedos and formal dresses, but suits & ties and cocktail or midi dresses are also appropriate. We kindly request that guest do not wear white or black dresses! For the Welcome Party, we request Garden Cocktail Attire, think sundresses and midi dresses, summer jackets, or a suit without a tie. Floral prints and bright colors are encouraged!

Question

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 2pm. We kindly ask that you arrive no later than 1:45pm to ensure that everyone is able to be seated on time. Locations, times, and addresses for all wedding weekend events can be found on the schedule page.
