Zach and Tyler’s story began while both were stationed at Fort George G. Meade with the Army. Their first date was at a restaurant in Severn, Maryland called Grillfire. They shared drinks, food, and conversation leading to an instant connection. They hit it off so well they went on three more dates the same week — and they've been inseparable ever since.

During their time together Zach and Tyler have shared countless adventures, from exploring Hershey Park and enjoying campfires to attending concerts by P!nk and Brandi Carlile. They've soared over Lancaster, PA, in a hot air balloon, hiked through scenic trails, and even tackled indoor and actual skydiving. Their experiences also include skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, a Trans-Siberian Orchestra show, and a Gabriel Iglesias comedy night. They’ve made lasting memories at an Army holiday ball, on a White House tour, and while backpacking in Shenandoah, not to mention countless hours spent cooking, doing home improvements, and having fun mini golfing together.

Tyler had bought the ring two days prior during what Zach thought was a suspicious trip to King of Prussia. Initially planning to propose during a fancy date or weekend getaway, Tyler found the perfect moment one quiet afternoon. While sitting together in their bedroom, they discussed their future and their excitement about spending their lives together. In that intimate moment, Tyler knew there was no better time to ask Zach to marry him.
