Taking a day trip over to the island of Cozumel is highly recommended. They are world famous for their scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities and beautiful beaches. They also have a fun downtown area, lots of good food, and tons of scooters! The ferry from Playa del Carmen goes almost every hour from their downtown pier and takes about 40 minutes to get there.
Apparently going to Tulum is "not to be missed", wildly popular for its beautiful beaches, tropical inspired architecture, and laid back vibes. We didn't get to visit while we were there in October, but we'd love to go with people in February!
This is a popular "walking street" in downtown Playa del Carmen. It's full of fun restaurants, bar, and stores for all your souvenir needs! It's walking distance from pretty much all the big hotels in downtown, making it an easy afternoon activity.
Zach and I are certified scuba divers, and would love to dive with anyone who can! Scuba diving isn't for everyone, and snorkeling is a close second! There are so many fun things to see under water in this area!
Ancient Mayan Ruins in Tulum
More Mayan ruins. These are the most popular and the ones you probably picture in your head when you think of this area in Mexico.
