Historic 1872 covered bridge turned iconic photo spot. Great for swimming, photos, and family outings. The venue of the last Wheeler wedding held in this town. Some say the sound of a dropped wedding ring still resounds off the rafters. Seriously worth a drive, and plan a swim if October weather is cooperative.
Hike to Screw Auger Falls, Mother Walker Falls, Moose Cave, or Table Rock Trail for stunning mountain and waterfall views. These are all-day hikes and super approachable. Having dragged some tremendously grumpy 10-12-year-olds over and around these, I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys a brisk walk! Or, take a scenic 21‑mile drive through the heart of the Mahoosucs on Route 26.
Moderate 3.2‑mile loop with forest paths and sweeping views over Bethel and the Androscoggin Valley. Another beautiful and approachable day-hike. Plan a couple of hours for this one!
Scenic preserves with forest trails, wildlife spotting (moose, deer, birds), and peaceful walks. Ideal for families. The 3.4 mile trail system is accessible from downtown Bethel and is great for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers. The area features a playground, picnic areas, and a miniature covered bridge.
Summer and fall activities: Golf, gondola rides, zip lining, mountain biking, disc golf and more.
World‑class geology museum with local minerals and meteorites (including moon and Mars specimens). Right in downtown.
Charming historic movie theatre showing current films—cozy atmosphere and affordable fun. Are you picking up on a gem theme in this town?

Cute downtown spot for breakfast and lunch in a former bank. Highly recommended!
New-American meets Southeast Asian fusion cuisine. Seasonally varied menu and delicious food and drinks for the somewhat more adventurous palate.
Casual-elegant South Korean and sushi bar. Delicious, with varied seating options including an outdoor deck, elevated dining room, and downstairs bar.
Local dive bar! It’s a dive bar in a basement, in a good way.
