We had our first date on 10/11/2019, so we thought it was fitting to keep the same anniversary! We love fall in western Maine, and we think you will too. Every year we try to spend this long weekend in Bethel - hiking, camping, apple picking - and now - getting married!
One day in the fall of 2019, Phoebe met up with some friends at the Eastern Prom in Portland, for a little pick-up frisbee. Little did she know she would end up picking up her future husband... There were only nine or so people there, including this cute guy Phoebe hadn't seen before. After an hour or so of heckling, awkward eye contact, and sideline chit chats, they went their separate ways. Upon learning that Zac (frisbee nickname "Birthday") was her friend Gunnar's roommate, she Facebook messaged Gunnar asking him to pass along her number. At first, Phoebe accidently provided him the wrong number, but after about a week of silence, that was remedied and the rest is history!
We kindly request that you wear autumn cocktail attire. Full length or midi dresses are great, as well as formal pantsuits. Feel free to wear a suit with or without a tie, but please no jeans, shorts, polos, or casual shoes. Jewel tones and fall colors are encouraged, but note that the bridesmaids will be wearing dark green. While the tent will be heated, the ceremony and cocktail hour are outside. Please dress accordingly, since October in western Maine can be cold! Everything will take place on a mowed field, so please wear footwear that will be suitable for that. Please reference the dress code Pinterest page if you have any questions or need inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/pwalsh152/wedding/dress-code/
We will be serving dinner family style, meaning each table will get several platters of amazing food. If you have any dietary restrictions, please indicate that when you RSVP.
The ceremony begins at 4:00, so please arrive by 3:30. There is parking at the field, and please consider carpooling.
The average high in Bethel on October 11th is 58 degrees, and the average low is 35, so it is likely going to be cold. However, the reception tent is heated, the ceremony is short, and the cocktail hour will have fire fits, potentially heaters, and lots of blankets. It could be a 70 degree day! You never know.
Phoebe has been a Walsh for 31 years, but she is excited to start this new chapter with her husband as a Wheeler. It's not an easy decision to take a new last name, especially when the Walsh family is so wonderful. Therefore, we may go with Phoebe Holladay Walsh Wheeler!
