For the ceremony, we require guests that any phones or cameras to be put away. We have chosen a photographer that will capture our special day and we would prefer all og you to be rejoicing with us in the moment instead of taking the photos. A reminder will be communicated to all guests at the ceremony. We're happy for photos to be taken at the reception.
Caleb and I would like the special moment and opportunity to share our wedding photos before guests posting any of their own. While well wishes on social media are appreciated and are well intentioned, we would prefer that any photos of Caleb or myself to not be posted or shared on social media. We are happy for you to post photos of ONLY YOURSELVES or group photos with other guests if you'd like to acknowledge the celebration in the mean time.
Yes! We will make sure we update this website regularly and text or email you when there are updates available on the website. We will most likely email, so please check your spam or junk folders for updates with the subject line that may include the word 'ZABRDACMATCHETT Wedding'.
Photocircle is an app where everyone has access via a link, invite or QR code to upload and download pictures. This eases the back and forth of messaging people the photos and keeps the image quality to the original standard. We have made PhotoCircle link for our guests to upload pictures. You can upload any pictures through out your stay in Fiji, we would love to see it all! Caleb and I will send a new link when our photographer sends us our pictures. https://join.photocircleapp.com/WEAG5ATYHQ But please remember, do not post photos of Caleb and I where we are on our wedding day.
Guests staying outside the resort are responsible for arranging their own transfers to and form the Shangri la the day of the wedding. Please book your transfers through Tewaka, Rosies or with a company if your choice.
If you have questions about the wedding, you can refer to the website, emails and the invite for any questions you may have. Caleb and I will be unreachable once we get to Fiji and during our honey moon.
You are absolutely more than welcome to stay at another resort. We recommend the Shangri La as our wedding and reception will be at the resort and our milestone events such as the welcome dinners, hens, bucks and other group activities will be there. Shangri La also offer all inclusive packages, where you can include breakfast, lunch and dinner meals along with an impressive beverage package. Keep in mind that staying closer to Denarau (all though the resorts are just as beautiful) is a 1.5 to 2 hour commute by coach or taxi to the Shangri La, which would be an expense of time and money. East of Nadi is Sigatoka which is a 20 to 30 minute commute.
Fiji is a tropical destination with warm sunny days and sometimes humid weather when the day has overcast. We will be having the wedding in the dry season, but there may be days where the weather is unpredictable and can rain. Pack as you would for a summer holiday, with maybe a light cardigan and a rain jacket if you want to be prepared. If you are doing any activities such as the eco tracks or quad biking, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or breaking a sweat in would be good to pack too.
If you decide to get us a gift, we would appreciate if we receive this before we leave for the wedding or after we come back from the honeymoon. There has been some unfortunate things happen where people have had their gifts or wishing wells with lots of money and sentimental cards stolen during the celebrations. We would prefer if this didn’t happen and keep your gifts in Australia to give before or after the wedding.
A welcome drinks is to get together with all the guests and to spend time with everyone before the big day. This is a great time to see everyone again from the engagement party. You are more than welcome to join Caleb and I for dinner after where ever we may end up. We will be having the drinks at the Bilo Bar at the resort. You can access the map by copying and pasting this link in a web browser. https://www.ourpacific.co.nz/AdditionalFiles/PDF/Fiji/Shang/Shangri%20la%20Resort%20Map%20May19%20v1.pdf There is no dress code for welcome drinks!
The reception and ceremony will be on the grounds of the Shangri La resort. We will be organising transfers for our guests to get to our ceremony and receptions venues on the day.
We want to make sure parents have the options for the kids to be looked after while you can have a fun time celebrating with us! There is a nanny service available at $30FJD per child for the first 3 hours and $20FJD for every hour thereafter. The prices and information could change, so it would be a good idea to confirm this with the resort closer to the day.
The dress code for the event is Garden Party Formal. As the weather is warm, men should consider lightweight suits, summer suits, dress shirts, dress shorts and neat linens in softer colours paired with dress shoes comfortable for grass, dancing and walking. Women should opt for summer dresses, blouses, skirts or pants suits to stay comfortable in the heat. Bright or pastel colours (avoiding pastel colours close to whites, ivories and creams) and patterns are highly encouraged! The websites below can be an inspiration point of the dress code for both men and women. Pinterest is a great place for examples too. The island trip is an open invitation to anyone who would like to join us on a beautiful boat or catamaran ride to a island for the day as the last HURRAH! Activities include: swimming, snorkelling, happy hour, lunch on board, dancing and music. This an optional activity to opt into should you wish to come along. We will send out details of price and tour closer to the day.
As we are wanting a fairly intimate wedding, we are trying to limit the number of plus ones. For our friends and family in committed relationships, rest assured that your partner is also invited and will be stated on your invitation (no plus one needed).
As Fiji is a hot spot destinations, we recommend booking flights and accomodation 12 to 8 months in advance. We recommend securing your accomodation at your earliest convenience.
The Shangri-La Yanuca Island in Fiji offers all-inclusive packages that typically include meals, drinks, and access to resort facilities and activities. These packages often cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a daily credit to use at the restaurants in the resort (excluding black marline and other conditions apply) along with a selection of drinks from a specific menu. They may also include access to amenities like the Little Chiefs Kids Club, non-motorized watersports, and the floating water park. From our experience, we recommend guests to book with an all inclusive package if your budget allows it.
Here are some things that will be helpful to know: - The currency in Fiji is Fijian Dollar or FJD. - Caleb and I used our bank cards and some cash to make purchases in Fiji. The resort can do currency exchanges, or you can exchange your money before you fly out with your preferred provider. - The power points/electric outlets in Fiji are the same as Australian - Fiji lives by Fiji time, much different to some fast paced factors we know of in our lives. They are a relaxed culture and enjoy the leisure of taking it slow. - Nadi is actually pronounced 'Nan-di' - Be cautious of your surroundings at night and in busy urban areas as these are high risks of crime.
