FAQs

Question

Where is the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Our ceremony will be held at the John Denver Sanctuary Amphitheatre and the reception will be at Theatre Aspen Hurst Theatre directly adjacent to the ceremony site. Both venues are located within Rio Grande Park, a city park near Aspen's downtown core. The address is 470 Rio Grande Place. Please be aware that our ceremony site is an outdoor natural open space sanctuary area and not a traditional event site. There will be a combination of standing, blankets on the grass, and limited chairs available for seating.

Question

How do we get to the ceremony and reception? Is there parking?

Answer

Both venues are located in Rio Grande Park, just outside of the downtown Aspen core. If you are staying in town, it is possibly walking distance or we recommend you use your lodging shuttle or the Downtowner to drop you off at Rio Grande Parking Garage and walk the 1-2 minutes across the park from there. If you are driving we recommend parking in the Rio Grande Parking Garage. We will have access to a golf cart so please let us know if you may need assistance to and from the parking area to the venue.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

While we are hoping for a beautiful fall day, it has been known to snow in September - you can never predict Colorado weather! Temperatures average in the 60s during the day but often get down to the 30s and 40s at night. Be sure to check the forecast and pack/dress appropriately.

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Dress your best but no need for ties or stiletto's! The venue is the John Denver Sanctuary, and we encourage you to embrace the John Denver in you! AKA western ware is encouraged. Erin will be in a white dress, Jeff will be in a blazer and khaki's. We want you to be comfortable. Please note that our venues are indoor/outdoor, on a combination of grass and cobblestone and temperatures can drop throughout the day and night.

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

The Rolling Fork Food Truck will be cooking up some of their specialties: - Asian Fusion Beef Tenderloin Tacos - Rockfish Tacos with Watermelon Salsa - Almost Famous Fried Chicken Sandwich - Golden Beet Salad + apps, sides & dessert!

Question

What is Altitude Sickness?!

Answer

It's a real thing! Aspen's elevation is 7,908 ft. If you are coming from sea level, altitude sickness can be very real. Drink plenty of water, chapstick is your best friend here, and Alcohol hits A LOT harder. 2 drinks at sea level = 1 drink at altitude.

Question

Where should we fly into?

Answer

There are a couple options to get here if you are flying. Aspen Pitkin County Airport is 5 minutes from downtown Aspen. Vail/Eagle County Airport and Grand Junction Regional airport are both about 1.5 hours from Aspen and would require a car. Denver International Airport is about 3.5 hours from Aspen and would require a rental car. Prices can very significantly between airports.

Question

Do we need a rental car?

Answer

All our wedding events will be in Aspen, so if you are staying within the city of Aspen you likely won't need a car. There are many free transportation options in town, details can be found in the Travel section. Please note, Uber's and Lyfts are not readily available. All that being said, September is our favorite month in Colorado so having a car to explore the area is definitely a great option!
