They usually start off by responding, “The long verison or the short?” They first met met over 10 years ago while they were freshman in highschool. Cody would attend volleyball tournaments to support his friends, and Dani so happened to play on that same team. She remembered him being relatively quiet, with quite the head of hair since having long hair was the trend in 2008... During highschool, they stayed in touch through a couple of Facebook comments here and there, but that was the extent of their friendship. To this day, they laugh when these memories come up on their Timelines. As you can imagine, the things you post online when you’re fifteen-years-old always makes for some great comedy. Fast forward to their first day of freshman year at Florida State University. They both happend to sign up for the same 10:10am College Algebra class. Dani walked into a class of over 500 students expecting to know no one, and as she went to head up the stairs to the back row, she heard someone call her name. Everyone can guess that someone was Cody. This is where he would tell you that she blew him off and continued up the stairs, but she begs to differ... Throughout the semester, they would talk about assignments, which ultimately lead Dani to realize Cody could use some help preparing for exams. This allowed them to get closer and learn more about eachother. A quick few conversations made them realize that we had lived in the exact square mile in Boynton Beach, FL almost all their lives, just doing slightly different things. They went to opposing elementary, middle, and high schools, and enjoyed virtually all the same local restaurant (RIP Wings Plus and Pete Roses). That summer after freshman year is when they finally realized they may have something more. They spent time together almost every single day, bringing together both of their friend groups. By the end of summer, they decided they should give their relationship a shot... And the rest is history!
Every year on their anniversary, they always take the time to plan a fun dinner to celebrate. On their first anniversary in 2014, Dani came home from work to an outfit already picked out, flowers, and card with Cody waiting downstairs to take them to dinner. Doing something special on this day was always important to them. Their six-year anniversary would be no different - At least that’s what Dani thought... Weeks leading up to the day, Dani noticed Cody had been acting a little short, but nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until the week of their anniversary, where she asked him if there was anything specific he wanted to do, and he seemed to brush it off... She kept asking throughout the week, and he continued to say, “We’ll just grab a bite somewhere... I’ll call some places later.” It wasnt until the night before their anniversary where he finally told her they had a reservation at Meat Market at 6:30pm. Little did Dani know, Cody already had everything planned. He had cooridnated with one of their best friends to help set up the scene on the beach and catch some pictures of the moment (Thanks Wegs!). As they drove towards the restaurant, he had all of her favorite love songs playing in the background as they chatted about their day. He decided to take an alternatieve route (A1A) up to West Palm... They often enjoy taking A1A drives, so she went along without any idea of what was to come. As they approached Worth Avenue, Cody quickly pulled off the road and suggested they take a photo with the clock tower - so they did. Dani was ready to head to the restaurant as rain clouds were rolling in, but Cody insisted they keep walking. That’s when she saw a blanket with flowers and champagne laying further down on the beach. They nervously took off their shoes (which felt like an eternity to them), and walked over to the blanket. Cody shared some heart felt words and asked if she wanted to spend forever with him, which of course resulted in a joyful YES!!!
