Nos conocimos en Julio, en uno de esos viajes que Yoel solía hacer a Cuba. Empezó como algo pasajero y sin compromisos, sobre todo por la distancia: él en Oslo, Noruega y yo en La Habana, Cuba. Después de esas primeras citas Yoel tuvo que regresar, pero pronto se dieron nuevas oportunidades para que él regresara varias veces a Cuba y poco a poco lo que parecía un encuentro casual se fue transformando en algo mucho más fuerte. En el 2017 me surgió la posibilidad de audicionar para la compañía donde trabajaba Yoel, y fue entonces cuando nuestra relación empezó a crecer y a consolidarse. Y así, paso a paso, llegamos hasta el día de hoy, compartiendo juntos un camino que seguimos construyendo con ilusión y mucho amor.

We met in July, during one of those trips Yoel used to make to Cuba. It started as something casual and without commitments, mainly because of the distance: he lived in Oslo, Norway, and I in Havana, Cuba. After those first dates, Yoel had to return home, but soon there were new opportunities for him to come back several times to Cuba, and little by little, what seemed like a casual encounter turned into something much stronger. In 2017, I had the chance to audition for the company where Yoel worked, and that’s when our relationship began to grow and solidify. Step by step, we have reached today, walking hand in hand on a journey filled with love, trust, and dreams we build together.

Fue un 14 de Febrero, pero no un día cualquiera. Justo esa noche Daniela debutaba en uno de sus personajes favoritos: Kitri en Don Quijote. Cuando terminó la función estaba radiante de felicidad, aunque también muy cansada. Aun así, yo insistí en que saliéramos a celebrar, no solo por su logro, ni por el día del amor, sino porque en mi mente había algo mucho más especial planeado. En un rincón apartado del bar del Museo Munch Oslo, Noruega con los nervios a flor de piel, saqué la cajita que llevaba conmigo. Daniela no se lo esperaba para nada; de hecho, me confesó después que pensaba que le estaba dando cualquier cosa menos un anillo de compromiso. Entre lágrimas, risas y sollozos, me dijo que sí… y en ese instante sentí que mi felicidad no podía ser más grande.

It was on a February 14th, but not just any Valentine’s Day. That night, Daniela debuted in one of her favorite roles: Kitri in Don Quixote. After the performance, she was glowing with happiness, though also very tired. Still, I insisted that we go out to celebrate, not only her achievement and Valentine's Day, but also because I had something much more special in mind. In a quiet corner of the Munch Museum bar, Oslo Norway, with my nerves running high, I took out the little box I had been carrying with me. Daniela had no idea what was coming; in fact, she later confessed that she thought I was giving her anything but an engagement ring. Between tears, laughter, and sobs, she said Yes… and in that moment I felt my happiness could not be greater.
