Pike Place Market is Seattle’s historic public market overlooking the waterfront, famous for its fresh seafood, local produce, and the iconic fish-throwing vendors. Even as locals, we love going here - highly recommend. Some specific recommendations there: fresh flowers are cheap, DeLaurenti is fun to browse, Hellenika for froyo, hombows and siu mai at Mee Sum, The Crumpet Shop, Post Alley Pizza (especially for their hoagies), MarninSaylor for some cute items by a local artist.
A nice little 3 mile loop with trails throughout and a wide variety of densely planted vegetation. Also right next to the Japanese garden which does have an entry fee unlike the arboretum. Consider also going more southeast of here for a nice walk along Lake Washington Blvd.
Go on a ferry! Bainbridge is the easiest as you board downtown and can easily light rail there but our favorite is Whidbey Island and the Ebey Landing hike there. For a longer journey, there's also the San Juan Islands which are good for spotting wildlife like wild foxes and orcas.
Just a nice view of Seattle and Rainier on a clear day. Pretty touristy. Where Eric proposed and also where we had our first date :D
Seattle is great for hiking! We have 3 national parks in the vicinity: Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades. All three are excellent but Rainier is the easiest for a day trip. If you only do one hike there, we recommend Skyline Loop.
