No, unfortunately she's not. After getting married this summer, we’ll be submitting the paperwork for an CR1 visa for Sarah to become a US permanent resident and acquire a US green card. The usual processing time for this particular visa is about one year, but the timeline can vary quite a bit. When that process is completed, she would be able to work permanently in the US and travel freely.
Travel! There are a lot of places we’ve dreamed of traveling to and this visa process is a good excuse to check off some of that list while we wait. This visa discourages us from being in the US while it’s being processed, so we plan on being overseas pretty much the whole time. We’d love to meet up with people during this time, so please contact us if you think that’s a possibility!
We’re funding it from our savings from our last 5 years of working. We realize that it’s a very unique situation to be able to have this extended time-off period and is likely the only time is our lives we’ll ever be able to pull something like this off, so we’re hoping to make the most of it!
We’re really not sure yet! We’re hoping to use the time traveling to think and pray a lot about these topics. We really appreciate your ongoing love and support, and would love to hear any advice or thoughts you have for us!
42 cm! Not quite the Guiness world record, but it’s close!
