Before You Leave
Visa Information for US Guests US citizens are required to obtain a tourist visa (L visa) before traveling to China — there is no visa on arrival. The good news: US citizens are typically eligible for a 10-year multiple entry visa, so if you've been to China before, you may already have one. Check the expiration date and your remaining blank passport pages before assuming you're all set. Before you apply, make sure: Your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates You have at least 2 blank visa pages You apply 1–2 months before the wedding (not too early — the visa is only valid for entry within 3 months of issue) You apply at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate that covers your state of residence Apply here: China's official online visa application system (COVA)

Getting Here | Entry Airport | Destination Airport There are no direct flights from the US to Chongqing. Most guests will connect through a major hub — common routings from LAX and SFO include connections via Hong Kong (HKG) or Shanghai (PVG) into Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG). We recommend checking Air China, China Eastern, Sichuan Airlines, and United for options. We are happy to arrange family pickup from either airport — just reach out to us in advance to coordinate.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG)
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) — Recommended for most guests CKG is your destination airport and approximately 1.5–2 hours from Dazu District. Family pickup from CKG is the easiest to arrange and most frequently available. If you prefer to make your own way from CKG to Dazu, two options: 1. Direct coach bus (simplest) — Departs ~7 times daily from between Terminal 2A and 2B. If you land at Terminal 3, take the free airport shuttle to Terminal 2 first. Tickets cost approximately ¥50–60 (~$7–8 USD), ride time ~1.5–2 hours. 2. Metro + bullet train (fastest) — Take Metro Line 10 (~20–30 min) to Chongqing North Railway Station, then a 30-minute high-speed train to Dazu South Station (大足南站). Take a local taxi from there to your hotel.

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU)
Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) — Best option for Vancouver & LA guests Sichuan Airlines offers direct flights from Vancouver (YVR) and Los Angeles (LAX) into Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) a few times a week — a convenient option if a direct flight is a priority for you. From TFU, Dazu is approximately 2–2.5 hours away. From TFU to Dazu, two options: High-speed train (recommended) — Take Metro Line 18 to Chengdu East Railway Station, then board a bullet train directly to Dazu South Station (大足南站), approximately 55–75 minutes. Take a local taxi from there to your hotel. Family pickup — Can also be arranged from TFU with advance notice. Given the longer distance, please reach out early so we can coordinate.
