We met in high school doing musical theatre. We didn't really talk much at the time, even though we were both in Golden Valley High School's production of 'Footloose'. The only notable part to our story is a lengthy competition on who could do the "Cup Song" from Pitch Perfect better. We still don't know who won that.
Fast forward a couple of years and we both meet up again... doing musical theatre. We join a summer cabaret called "Sudden Vision" with ESCAPE Theatre in Santa Clarita. It's here that we both develop an attraction to each other, although we would never know it because we spent a large majority of the time not really talking to each other. The show comes and goes and so do we.
Fast forward one more year and a mutual friend of ours asks us to be the leads in his upcoming short film. We both gratefully accept and begin production. During shoot days, our attraction builds thanks to lots of scenes together, off set fun, and friends who acted as middle men. Finally, the day of the kissing scene comes and sparks fly. Call it a "showmance" or what have you, but we genuinely enjoyed each others' company. On the day that editing was finished, our director showed us the film and sent us on our way. We both knew that unless someone asked to hang out, neither of us would probably have any reason to see each other again. What played out was a classic rom - com movie scene... The director walks us both out to our cars in the middle of the night. It's cold, brisk even, and you can see our breath in the night air. Our cars are parked next to each other and after the director sends us off, we just sit there, next to each other (but not really), in our opposite cars just staring at our phones; the whole time thinking about how this could be the last time we ever see each other. It's at this moment that Matt decides not to get caught up in the "showmance" and drive away. Because of his decision, this dynamic duo almost didn't happen. It's only thanks to Bre, who texted Matt shortly after he pulled out of the driveway, that a first date even happened. Thank you, Bre.
Since then, we haven't looked back. We've had many adventures around the world, a few LDR stints, and lots of memories. We've gotten to go climb mountains together, explore oceans together, and do even more musical theatre together. We're excited to continue our amazing story in marriage. Thank YOU for being part of this next step of our adventure :)
