Este es un amor que comenzó hace más de 27 años, pero cuyo camino dió muchos giros antes de encontrarnos juntos nuevamente el día de hoy. Si le preguntan a los tortolitos qué palabra describiría su conexión, ambos dirían, DESTINO. Yari y Astolfo se conocieron en una fiesta colombiana en Chicago en mayo de 1995, pero como todos saben, esta historia solo comenzó allí. 23 años después, Yarima estaba en Colombia visitando a su mamá, Myriam. Un día, Mientras Myriam roncaba, el desvelo llevó a Yarima a preguntarse qué sería de la vida de Astolfo. Yarima pasó horas en el Internet investigando el paradero, pasado y presente de Astolfo hasta que finalmente encontró su foto en Twitter durante la ceremonia de posesión como decano en una universidad en Bogotá. Es así como se craneó una manera sutíl para reunirse con él. Al día siguiente, el 18 de noviembre de 2019, Myriam estaba trabajando en un mosaico en una universidad ubicada frente al campus donde podría estar Astolfo. Yarima le pidió a Myriam que la llevara al otro lado de la autopista para hacer una "diligencia cortica". Myriam no le dió mucha importancia e inocentemente llevó a Yarima y al llegar a la universidad, y con algo de ayuda de Myriam, Yarima entró de incógnita y sorprendió a Astolfo en su despacho con un "¡Quiubo!" Él simplemente respondió: ¡Dios mío! El amor de mi vida acaba de llegar. Continuó repitiendo esto frente a un grupo de secretarias de su oficina quienes miraban atónitas lo que estaba ocurriendo. A pesar del estado de shock en que ambos se encontraban, conversaron por unos minutos y se dieron cuenta de que estaban pasando por un proceso similar, intentando reiniciar un capítulo nuevo en sus vidas. Después de este breve encuentro, le quedó claro que su historia no había terminado hacía 23 años. Reconocieron que aún había una llama que seguía muy viva, la misma llama que los había unido desde un principio más de 2 décadas atrás. Yarima regresó a los EE. UU., y al poco tiempo la pandemia nos toco a la puerta. Aunque Yarima y Astolfo se comunicaron muy de vez en cuando, pasaron casi dos años sin verse. El verano pasado, Yarima finalmente pudo regresar a casa y en agosto, ante la insistencia de Yarima, Astolfo finalmente accedió a desayunar en Viento de Luna, la casa de Myriam en el monte. Luego, como muchos de ustedes saben, la vida les presentó otro desafío. La salud de Myriam se deterioró rápidamente y Yarima pasó casi tres meses en Bogotá acompañándola y apoyando a su familia en este proceso. A pesar de las difíciles circunstancias, Astolfo y Yarima tuvieron la oportunidad de pasar tiempo juntos, re-conocerse y consolidar su relación. Y el 13 de octubre de 2021, el día de cumpleaños de Myriam, Astolfo finalmente se decidió a hacerle una pregunta muy importante a Yarima: la pregunta que debió hacerle 26 años atrás. Ante la respuesta afirmativa de Yarima, ambos han estado esperando este momento felices de cumplir el sueño que habían considerado hace 26 años. Desde el momento de su compromiso, sus vidas han cambiado. Yarima y Astolfo están empeñados a dar lo mejor de sí mismos, y a dedicar sus vidas a encontrar la felicidad después de haber pasado por tantas pruebas y adversidades. Ambos esperan que la vida les siga brindando momentos de felicidad y que sigan trabajando en equipo para dar lo mejor de sí mismos, apoyarse mutuamente en todos los esfuerzos descabellados que vienen de aquí en adelante y vivir una vida llena de aventuras, de momentos alegres, risas y mucho aprendizaje. Durante esta celebración, queremos dedicar un tiempo y un espacio para honrar la memoria de Myriam. ya que ella fue artífice y cómplice de este hermoso amor. La frase de brindis de Myriam siempre fue "chin chin", así que nos gustaría invitarlos a todos para que hagan un brindis en su honor, como ella lo haría y lo diría. ¡Prepárense para levantar sus copas una y otra vez y brindar por Myriam, chin chin! This is a love that began over 27 years ago, but whose path took many twists and turns before finding us here together today. If you ask the couple for a word to describe their connection, they would answer, destiny. Yari and Astolfo met at a Colombian party in Chicago in May of 1995, but as you all know, the story only began there. The spark was born, but their love story took a pause. Many years later, 23 in fact, Yarima found herself back in Colombia visiting her mom, Myriam. After some light internet stalking , Yarima found a picture of Astolfo on Twitter being sworn in as a dean at a fancy university, and from there, she figured out a way to meet up with him. The next day, on November 18 of 2019, Myriam, was working on a mosaic at a university located across the street from the campus where Astolfo might be. Yarima asked Myriam to drive her across the street to run a "quick errand". Myriam didn't make a big deal out of it, and innocently drove Yarima to where she thought she would find Astolfo. Upon arriving at the university, Yarima surprised Astolfo with a "Quiubo!" or Hello! He simply replied: Oh my god! The love of my life just arrived. He continued to repeat this in front of a group of his office secretaries. Yarima and Astolfo got a chance to chat and both realized they were going through a similar process in their lives. A process of restarting a new chapter in their lives. After this brief encounter, they both realized their story wasn't over. Rather, they recognized there was still a flame that was very much alive, the same flame that got them together in the first place more than 2 decades before. Yarima returned to the US, and then COVID hit. Although they were in contact here and there, nearly two years went by without seeing each other. In their words, "life sucked." Then, last summer, Yarima was finally able to return home and in August, at Yarima's insistence, Astolfo finally agreed to have breakfast at Viento de Luna, Myriam's home in the mountains. Then, as many of you know, life threw another challenge in their way. Myriam became very ill, very quickly, and Yarima spent nearly three months at home caring for her. Despite the difficult circumstances, during this time, Astolfo and Yarima got the opportunity to spend time together, get to know each other, and consolidate their relationship. And on October 13, 2021, on Myriam's birthday, Astolfo dropped the question: the question that he should have asked 26 years before. SInce then, they have been looking forward to this moment. To commit to a dream they both had considered 26 years back. To commit to a life together after having gone through so many trials and tribulations. Since the moment of their engagement, their lives have changed. Today, we are here to be part of this journey. Yarima and Astolfo are committed to give each other the best of themselves, to dedicate their lives to find happiness. They hope that life will continue giving them moments of happiness, even through tough circumstances. They also wish to remain committed to work in complete synergy to give each other the best of themselves, to support each other in all crazy endeavors, and to live a life filled with adventure, joyful moments, laughter, and lots of learning. We want to take a moment to honor Myriam's memory as she was an artifice and an accomplice to this beautiful love. Myriam's toasting phrase was "chin chin," so we'd like to invite you all to a toast in her honor, the way she would say it.
