How We Met

Spring 2017

FADE IN: INT. TEXAS A&M - SAN ANTONIO COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT LOUNGE AREA It all started with a journalism club invite by Gabby. Yes, ladies and gentleman, she made the first move. But as Wyatt likes to point out, he asked her on their first date. As president of this club, Gabby had forgotten one crucial detail. She was to lead the meeting! You see, she was way more shy than she is right now and had not accounted for her nerves when she made her brave move. Don't worry, she killed it. Right after the meeting Gabby had the brilliant idea of asking Wyatt for help with a delivery for the communications lounge to get a couple extra minutes and get to know him. It was all going according to plan until another classmate decided to tag along and proceeded to talk Wyatt's ear off! For that reason, and that reason only, Gabby decided to message him on Instagram and thank him for attending the meeting. The conversation started, Wyatt asked for her number and later asked her on a date. His smooth conversational skills and the fact that he was watching her favorite movie made it a done deal. They message and message each other for hours and haven't stopped talking since. FADE OUT.

First Date

Viva Tacoland

Gabby had whiskey, Wyatt had beer. They had no tacos for some crazy reason. They talked for hours & hours like they had never been strangers. Picture all the fireworks and sparks in the world flying around them. He kissed her at the end of the night *scandalous gasp* and they never looked back!

First Anniversary

California Road Trip

Having met in Texas, Wyatt & Gabby didn't hold back for their first anniversary and decided to go BIG and go the opposite way from home. The California boy didn't have to convince the California loving girl very much to take a week-long road trip and explore the state with him. They were both nervous and excited to spend so much time together for the first time and see so many cool places. Gabby was also super nervous to meet his friends (pretty much his extended family) and see Fresno, the place he talks about the most ever, with her own eyes! The trip started with an awesome night in San Diego, then Fresno! His friends welcomed her with open arms and she quickly felt less nervous. They went to Shaver Lake, San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Carmel, and everything in between. The trip was a success on all fronts and they shared memories they will never forget!

The Proposal

November 7, 2020

Wyatt had told Gabby to pick a city to visit in Minnesota or Wisconsin for her "Birthday Week." See, Gabby should've been suspicious because he had never once wanted to celebrate a birthday week. But instead of asking why he was so excited to make her birthday a whole week celebration she chose to go with it and cash in a cool birthday trip! She decided on Minneapolis, a city they both love and that has great coffee! A Gabby birthday kind of city for sure. Wyatt asked her to pick all the places she wanted to visit and even asked her to plan everything! Good sneaky way of distracting her and not letting her think he was planning anything. Gabby knew she wanted to get a good cup of coffee, see some cool houses, a cool bridge, go to a park, and get some good local food. Everything in time to go back home early enough and account for the two and a half hour road trip back. Right? WRONG! The park was the third stop and everything was going to plan! Wyatt kept saying very cute things and reminiscing on their time spent together, living in Wisconsin, and about to move back to Texas. They were happier than ever and feeling lucky to be there together. Once in the park they found a nice bench to sit in and sip their coffee. It was somewhat busy but from one moment to the next it seemed as if their corner of the park was empty and left to themselves. Ducks were swimming in the little pond in front of them and the weather was surprisingly beautiful for a November day in Minnesota. One moment Gabby was taking in the beautiful sights of the park and thinking of their awesome and crazy journey and the next thing she knew Wyatt was on one knee!! She was shocked, over the moon, and kept asking, "are you kidding me!?" A lot of nervous and giggly laughs were going around! Wyatt had the whole beautiful day planned along with champagne hidden in the car and a charming hotel booked for the weekend! They had delicious food, the best walk, and lots of champagne that night!
