Wyatt and Brittney met at Bridgeport High School and were good friends throughout school. Wyatt graduated in 2016 and went to serve in the United States Marine Corps. During Brittney's senior year of high school in 2018, Wyatt and Brittney started talking more and more. When Wyatt came home for Christmas, he took Brittney for a ride in his mustang and they both realized how much they loved spending time with one another. Since Wyatt was in California and Brittney was attending college in Kearney, they spent every moment of their free time on FaceTime with one another. Although being away from one another was really hard, it definitely strengthened their relationship. Brittney and Wyatt took every chance they could get to see one another. Brittney flew out to California to visit Wyatt 11 times throughout their two years of long distance! He also flew out to surprise Brittney for her birthday in 2020. After honorably serving his time in the Marines, Wyatt moved back to Nebraska in September of 2020. Wyatt moved to Kearney and started attending school at CCC for welding. He finally got to meet their dog for the first time in person. Millie is the tiny Shih-Tzu who holds their little family together. Wyatt and Brittney always knew they would end up together one day, and they are so excited to start their life together as Mr. and Mrs.
Brittney and Wyatt had been talking about getting married since the very beginning of their relationship. Brittney could have swore he was going to propose a million times before he actually did, so she was always ready. However, Wyatt still managed to completely surprise her. Wyatt and Brittney were heading back to Bridgeport to kick off the summer. They stopped to get some snacks on their way home and Wyatt barely ate anything. Brittney didn't really think anything of it. As they were getting closer to Lewellen, Wyatt started profusely sweating. Again, Brittney thought nothing of it and just turned the air conditioner up. They were planning on stopping to let Millie out to use the bathroom and Wyatt took the dirt road leading to the Lewellen State Aid Bridge. Wyatt asked Brittney if she wanted to take an 'out of school for the summer' picture. She was thrilled because he never asks to take pictures. He set up his phone on the side of the bridge and Brittney thought he had the self-timer on to take their picture. Little did she know, he pressed the video instead of picture on his phone to capture the whole moment. He started telling Brittney how much he loved her and she was just staring at the camera, smiling as she held Millie. Then he got down on one knee, and Brittney was in complete shock. Through the happy tears, she said yes! She really had no idea this was coming. In fact, she was wearing her pajamas instead of a cute outfit she always had planned for the proposal. It was the perfect moment!
Wyatt is currently attending the The Central Community College in Kearney for Welding. Brittney is attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She is majoring in Early Childhood Inclusive and Elementary Education. They will both graduate in December of 2022. They live in a duplex with Brady Newkirk and Austin Kenner and are really enjoying their time in Kearney together. They are so excited for this eventful year ahead!
