Our paths first crossed at our liberal arts college, Oglethorpe University. He knew my name before he knew my face, and somewhere along the way, one of my friends decided he could be my “British Nigerian boyfriend.” I, of course, responded that I had never seen that man in my life. Funny enough, before we truly knew each other, something meaningful was already unfolding. What started as a friendship filled with teasing slowly turned into hours spent in the library and student center, juggling two majors that were as different as could be. Then came the late-night phone calls, endless texts, and eventually the question that changed everything: “Will you be my girlfriend?”, asked on Christmas Day. Ours has always been a love rooted in ease. No chasing, no forcing, just two people who found common ground, then friendship, then comfort, and finally a love that felt like home. We knew each other before we really knew each other, and now we’re so excited to spend the rest of our lives continuing that journey, together.
