Wedding Party

Meet our family and friends who are walking down the aisle with us.

Jade

Maid of Honor

We met in 6th grade at Sacred Heart, & we’ve been best friends ever since. She sat next to me & was known for her big puff pony. Middle school was fun & games: trips to the Green Shitlands for graphic tees from Charlotte Russe, weekend sleepovers, & YouTube-led guitar lessons. When we first had cell phones, we would talk almost every day (keep in mind that “unlimited talk + text” did not exist yet). We had a 4-hour uninterrupted phone call that sent my bill through the roof. We went to different high schools but still made time to hang out on weekends, holidays, & life events. And the summers always included at least one of Saunders’ infamous parties (IYKYK). Going away to college didn’t stop us from texting at least once a week with life updates. Please know that we HATE school. Luckily, we kept each other sane & on track (Ms. Ma’am has TWO degrees — PURRR). I remember my college graduation & the family drama I endured the day before. Keana was there to keep me calm & mediate the situation. We know that if one calls the other, it’s an EMERGENCY, & we ALWAYS answer the phone. She’s my best friend, & I’m so happy she’s embarking on this new journey! After 8 years years together (10 on their wedding day), this is the perfect time to secure the bond you two already share. This is the happiest Keana has been in a relationship. I can see how much she’s grown as a woman & now a wife. Congrats to the couple who met their match in all aspects: life, love, & likka (liquor).

Shanniah

Best Woman

Well I guess I didn’t really meet the groom, the groom met me on August 8th, 1999. I had been in the hospital for five extra days after I had been born and from our mother’s perspective, Shane was very excited to see me and showed me off to his friends. When the day was over, he quickly realized that I was here to stay and immediately told our mother to return me back to the hospital. He cried and begged then eventually got use to me. Then for 23 years, Shane has been the best big brother a sister could ask for. Protection? He gives it. Love? Never ever have I had to ask him for it. Toughness? He beat me up all the time to make sure I could fight. Even though, my brother had no choice but to love me we have chosen to each other’s besties since the day we met. If you ask Shane though, he might say after I got cooler. Thank you, Shanniah Wright

Keana and I met in highschool. Can’t really remember when or how, but she was friends with some girl we don’t need to talk about, I was friends with another girl we don’t gotta talk about, and we meshed our duos to a little group of four. We hung out all the time. Going to Pops, hanging out in Ms Marinos class after school, and laughing it up in class. As the years went on and drama within the group grew, it became pretty clear that we needed to ditch those (cuss word lol) so we did. Best decision we made. Since then our friendship has flourished to the one it is now. Its been able to withstand and flow along with the major life changes we’ve gone through. We grew distant in college, got closer when she came back to NYC, and, in my opinion, grew stronger when she moved away to Syracuse. Our hours long facetime calls and minutes long voice notes crying, screaming, laughing, have kept us connected and made it a little more bearable not having her around. We’ve cooked together, exercised together, watched TV together, read together, and, TMI, even used the bathroom while on FT. In the end I knew this was the step she needed to grow as a person, grow in her career, and as a partner to Shane. Her strength, courage, and empathy will make her the best wife and mother. I am excited to see what this next chapter has in store for my best friend.

Kevon aka Bev

Groomsman

It was one fateful day in pre k when I met Shane. He was the only kid faster than me during playtime. We raced at least 3 times and I didn’t win one time. We were the first to finish everything from our lunches to the tests and you know we were the two at the top of the class. Everything we did in school from class work to homework to quizzes became a race battle and test because I was not only trying to ace them but I wanted to also get higher than this guy and finish first. I started to play the piano first grade… guess who also started the piano in first grade? Yup AND We had the same teacher across the street from our school with lessons right after each other but we had to do different days because I was king hater at first. (Never forget I headlined the recital 😉.) After we found out we lived in the same building, it was over. Countless sleepovers, fights, talks, arguments, competitions, lit nights followed.

Amber aka Ambae

Bridesmaid

So let me set the scene … it’s EOP summer, dining hall closed, everyone winding down , getting hungry and our beloved Keana, just MELTED her LAST fork in her Easy - Mac before she even got to mix it …. Damn … so she’s walking up and down the halls looking for one amazing person to bless her with a fork to enjoy her delicious college meals. She runs into me , Amber, who has a plethora of forks and did the same thing the night before ! The rest is history . We learned we had mutual friends because no story is complete without realizing how small the world is, the summer finished and we continued talking . We tried out for the Brockport Cheer Team and were riding together since . Suffered those late night conditioning, moved into Mortimer together , had a CRAZY roommate. And the story wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention I’m the one the pushed Keana aka Ke-nuh ( another funny story) into Shane at one of the campus parties , sooooo you’re welcome ! lol but seriously Keana is really Bae , she rode an ambulance with me, missing class and talking to my mom until she was able to get a flight to Rochester and she was honestly one of the first friends I told I was pregnant and the only person that helped me get over the embarrassment I had of even hiding it , we really go together and I’m so happy for you two I love you both dearly !

Lincoln aka L Jay

Groomsman

I met Guru in college. Real hittas link up worldwide, so I'm not sure the EXACT moment we met, but we became brothers in 501 Perry. Living together, we’ve experienced some big highs, and big lows. But having each other in our corner has made us stronger, and better. We turned business partners after that, and haven't looked back since. We locked in for life!! #501OE #SFEOE

Jenny

Bridesmaid

I know this is supposed to be a “how me met” but girl I don’t remember lol oopsie ! But what I can tell you, is that Keana has been such a great friend from the start and she’s given off nothing but positive vibes. The family has also been so welcoming and loving. I miss the family bbqs! Keana has been there for my biggest achievements in life like my wedding and the birth of my daughter which is why I’m so honored to be included in this special moment. I love you and I look forward to being there to support you through this and all your future journeys.

Christopher

Groomsman

Damn how I met guru let’s see I was 14 years old in high school. I don’t remember the exact moment it happened I just know to this day I’m the only one that remembers guru leaving for like half freshman year then comes back sophomore year like nothing happened. Been my brother till now and forever.

Nadege

Bridesmaid

Hi, My name is Nadege but Kiki calls me dege lmao. I met Kiki back in 2004 when I came out of the womb on November 13th. Kiki wasn’t exactly fond of me when we first met , actually it took her about 14 years to warm up to me lol. Although we weren’t always the nicest to each other, Kiki always cared for me and took good care of me, from picking me up from school every day to cooking me breakfast every Saturday morning. No matter how long it took, I’m glad we have the relationship we have now, she is the best big sister I could ask for. I am so glad I get to share this amazing experience with you and Shane. Love You Guys!!!! Big Sister Note: Its because she's a Scorpio LOL

Chase aka Merch

Groomsman

I met Shane in college at the university of brockport( don’t go there). We had mutual friends with L jay and P fly, we would kick it often playing 2k and just everyday shit talk. Been a brother of mines since then and has always been a real one. Glad that our journeys crossed paths, love you bro

Jenayah aka Little

Bridesmaid

We met back in 2017 in Brockport during our sorority days when she became my "big sister", and I was so relieved cause let's just say the pickings weren't looking that good LOL but ever since then she's been one of my favorite humans and I'm so happy to have her in life. we're both the right amount of socially awkward and the prime example of all though I haven't seen you in months, when we link it's gonna be a movie 🥳 like this one night out where we got lit & spontaneously got our noses pierced in the village (FYI don't recommend lolloool) It's safe to say that anyone who's lucky enough to have her in their life knows what a great friend, role model and overall beautiful soul she is and I'm one of the luckiest people ever to call her my BIG 🥹♥️🫶🏾

Andre aka The General

Groomsman

I had the pleasure of meeting Shane my freshman year in college. He was my very first roommate out my momma crib lol. Needless to say, this is where our friendship started to blossom. From traveling to college parties to bumping the latest albums that just dropped to arguing about who drank all the milk are memories I will always cherish. One of the greatest qualities of Shane that’s is admirable is how supportive he is and how he is able to turn any dull room to light, joy and laughter with his suave words and comedic charm. This my brother for life and I am happy to be by your side on your big day. Love

Kendra

Bridesmaid

To be honest, do either of us even remember how we met? We met in college… yeah… but how? We will never know. College was a literal fever dream but I’m so glad it brought me to you. What I can remember is all the days we went to the library and sat for hours only to make jokes, use stupid Snapchat filters, and spend way too much on Red Bulls and coffee. From sharing our absolute hatred for mandatory sorority meetings to all of our inside jokes to bonding over being Asian foodies to our weekly FaceTimes to discuss how rough adult life is. Can’t believe Brockport has brought us thissssss close (iykyk) and now to being in your wedding. We’ve shared so many memories, bottles of Mahan’s, tears, and dominos pizzas. I can’t wait to stand with you on your big day and all the days to follow. Love you for life!

Maurice aka Mo

Groomsman

EOP summer 2010, we hung out as part of the large group, but I really learned who guru was when he beat me in the ping pong tournament. I’ll say the moment we became man’s 1k was Summer 2013 vibe’s everyday. I’m so happy for the macc house and this friendship that has spun off from that era.

Laurie Jessica aka LJ

Bridesmaid

I don’t remember how I met Keana. I remember one day being in the 5th grade with the same group of friends since kindergarten, then the next thing I know, this new girl joins the group. She wore glasses just like me, so being her friend made sense to my 5th grade brain. We’ve been friends ever since. Now, I only speak to 3 people from that group so just know she made a lasting impression 😭💕.

Prince aka P. Fly

Groomsman

Yo, I gotta be honest. I don’t remember the exact details of how we met. Freshman year in college, we all had similar friend groups being 1 of 30 black freshman on campus. I remember bonding over all the things black people bond over when we’re surrounded by the people of another race, food, music, alcohol and dancing, and we became extremely close. That prompted us into rooming together sophomore year, then junior year, we rent the “Macc House” together for our final two years and have been brothers ever since.

Abby

Bridesmaid

How did we meet? At Mo's BBQ - he didn't do a great job at introducing us but we have been friends ever since! Keana has introduced disney movies to me that I have never seen, random game nights or drinks at our friends houses, to just chilling and enjoying each others company. I am happy to be apart of you and Guru's wedding!

John aka Mav

Groomsman

I met Shane Wright when he was nine years old at the church we both attended. He was young and wild (he is still wild) but became more reserved as he spent more time with me and the team we were apart of.

Paris

Bridesmaid

Although I would love to start this off with a dazzling story about how we first met I do not remember, but I’m comforted by the fact that you most likely don’t either. Brockport was rough and our sober times were rare. What I will never forget though is how good of a friend you have always been. Once we linked it was like we’d know each other forever. You’ve helped to me through so many situations with solid humor and a readiness to pop up at a moments notice. Whether it be for a sneaky move out or a backroads trip to my rough ass home town I know you’ll always be there when needed. No matter what changes in life I know that our friendship will not. Our bond was built on Mahans, greasy brockport food and a passion for hiding during social events. (I personally feel there is no stronger chemical than mahans vodka so the bond is pretty solid). I know this is a moment you’ve been READY for and I’m so happy I get to be a part of the process. Love you much god big and cannot wait to see how beautifully everything unfolds for you♥️
